My wife and I stayed at the Miramar Resort for two nights in early February, 2009.
Knowing nothing about the area or the hotel before checking in, we were delighted by everything.
The architecture is soft and on a human scale (compared to the nearby modern, high rise, Le Meridien).
Rooms at the Miramar Resort are comfortable, clean and well-amenitized (I love to make up words.) We had a “superior” room, with a queen bed. Television included a large selection of shows and feeds, in several languages. There was a mini-bar that was well-stocked with reasonably priced items, including red and white wine, a nice concession to Western tastes in a Muslim nation. The bath was ample, clean and featured a tub and overhead shower. Entry way to the room included a place for luggage and a pair of closets, one of which thoughtfully contained a monogrammed terry robe and terry slippers. There was an open lanai with table and two chairs, facing the Gulf of Oman beach.
My son and family, who were with us, booked a “deluxe” room right next door so that we could visit on each other's lanais. Their room included an ante-room with double beds so that their young son could sleep separately.
Hotel service was exemplary. A very generous buffet breakfast, with omelets, waffles, pancakes, fruits, yogurt, baked goods, juice and more, was included inthe tarif.
While dining was available in a formal restaurant, we chose to eat more relaxed at the beach bar and a dining area next to the free form pool. Room service, which we took advantage of for lunch on the lanai, was good, prompt and attentive.
There also was a very good Kid's Club, a necessity for giving adults a break during the day. Our grandson was so excited that he didn't want to leave when the club closed for the day.
Between comfortable rooms, attentive staff, good restaurants and marvelous views of the beach on the Gulf of Oman, with views of the mountains behind us, the Miramar Resort was one of the most relaxing and satisfying stays we have had anywhere.
