I agree with the last poster. I have used this for my cats for years. There was never a smell at all. Lately, i bought a bottle that had a weird chemical smell. I was afraid to use it, so I bought another bottle a week later. Same chemical smell.

Miralax laxative powder is both gentle and effective. It does not have a taste, so it can be mixed with many kinds of liquid for easy consumption. This is a huge positive factor when trying to get my youngest daughter to take a laxative. I mix Miralax into her juice, and she does not know the difference!

A great product recommended by my doctor for chronic constipation. Unlike most laxatives that are available over the counter, this is non-habit forming. It is absolutely tasteless, and not gritty. Unlike other add in fiber supplements. It also is easy to carry (it also comes in pre made packets) if you are on the go and need to add to a bottled drink. My only downfall with this product is that it is rather expensive. Effectiveness Will produce a natural bowel movement, without producing diarrhea. But again, this depends on the person as to "how soon" you will get relief. Ease of Use So easy to use, just measure out to the pre marked 17 gram mark on the cap, and mix into any liquid. I have noticed it works better in a warm/hot liquid, as it dissolves quicker, but if using a cold liquid, I will stir and let it sit for a few minutes, stir, repeat until the liquid is clear. Immediacy This really depends on the individual and their unique digestive system as to when exactly it will produce a bowel movement.

I suffer from chronic constipation due to the medications I take. Some people suggest changing medications. That option is not feasible for me. So I have to do the "drink more water, eat more fiber" thing. That alone does not work. I had a doctor prescribe me stool softener medication too. It really didn't seem to do a thing me personally. On a visit to my doctor, I spied a pamphlet for MiraLax & best off all, it included really great coupon! So I snapped myself up a bottle at my next drug store visit. It's not hard to find, just look for those dreaded canisters of...fiber. It will be right there, and just about any store without a gas station attached to it will carry it. It is marketed as flavorless and tasteless. That is absolutely TRUE. My favorite way to take it is to put it in my morning coffee. I cannot even tell it's in there. There is no grit & no aftertaste whatsoever. I have also put it in apple juice with the same results. It's very gentle too. I didn't deal with any cramping, abdominal discomfort, or gas like I have with other laxatives. The product does seem to take about 3 days when the problem is severe.

This product does it exactly what it says--and if you've just had a baby, it's a must-have! Effectiveness I didn't want to take stool softener pills after giving birth to my 9 1/2 pound baby boy, so my doctor recommended this powder and said to use as much or as little as needed to get to a toothpaste consistency. Once a day, in my morning tea, it does the job. Ease of Use It's very easy to use, just put a serving size (the line on the lid) in your drink once a day or so, and voila. It has no taste or texture once dissolved, and dissolves immediately. Immediacy It started working in about 24 hours, which was perfect for me. If taking a higher dosage, it may work quicker.

Recently I got in to the MiraLax Campaign and I received a full sized bottle and some high value coupons to share. I have always had kind of slow plumbing if you know what I mean and this has cause me a lot of discomfort over the years, but I had learned not really trust to many laxatives, they were sometimes too strong, and at other times not strong enough and most of the time I would end up with bad gas and nobody wants that. MiraLax comes in different sizes, there is a 7 dose size, and 14 dose size, and a 30 dose size, there is also a box that holds 10 individual serving sized packets that you can easily take with you anywhere. One dose is .5 oz of powder. You mix the powder with between 4 and 8 oz of any liquid, it can be a hot liquid or a cold liquid. I mixed mine with my Crystal Light Lemonade. At first you don't taste anything at all but then there is a bit of an after taste. It is unpleasant for about 5 seconds and then you don't taste it anymore, it is not terribly unpleasant nor is it unpleasant enough that you can't easily drink the drink. I don't think I would drink it with just plain water though, mix it with something with some flavor. It mixes up quickly and easily. MiraLax is sugar free so if you are diabetic you don't have to worry about that at all. MiraLax is said to relieve abdominal discomfort, fatigue, gas, achiness, bloating, irritability, straining, lack of energy. The polyethylen glycol 3350 helps to gently replenish water to your system which helps your bowel movements move along more easily. It also makes the stool soft so it passes through easily. Miralax is not for kinds under the age of 17. It can take up to 3 days to work, but usually it works for me with in 12 to 24 hours after drinking it. I experience no cramping, or pain, and it does not come on suddenly where you have an emergency situation which is good. So far the MiraLax is doing wonders for me. Effectiveness Takes about one day for me to do its thing, but can take up to 3 days, but results will come and will be gentle. Ease of Use Mix with any drink hot or cold. There is a very slight very brief after taste, but otherwise super easy to take. Immediacy Can take up to 3 days for some people, but usually takes 12 to 24 hours for me.

MiraLax powder was recommended for my 7-year old sons frequent constipation by his pediatrician. He said that he uses at home for his own son, which always makes me feel more confident to know. This powder dissolves quickly and is absolutely 100% tasteless so it can be used in water. We use the full dosage recommendation and it usually works within 1-3 hours. So we do not use this right before bedtime. This also comes in packets, so we are able to take them when we travel. I try to not use it very often, but when we need it it works like a charm. No side effects for us whatsoever.

My doctor did recommend this product for constipation due to chemotherapy. It does not work at all. After a half a year of chemo, I have found any OTC stool softener works better, way faster, and is a lot less expensive. It does not fully dissolve in anything hot or cold even when using a blender. It's gritty, globby, and taste like paste. And who in chemotherapy wants to wait two weeks for relief even if it did work. Effectiveness Does not work. Ease of Use Does not dissolve. Immediacy Does not benefit in a timely manner.

***Quick View***: I suffer from hypothyroidism. My thyroid needs to be regulated with hormone therapy to work its best. When my medication is too low, I get a host of symptoms including constipation. Recently I was being underdosed and suffered loads of hypothyroid symptoms including the dreaded constipation. My doctor told me to buy this product...nothing else...and to use it until I was feeling better. I did and it worked gently and without the annoying cramps and urgency that can happen with laxatives. **Warning: This is frank discussion of constipation. If that sort of thing bothers you, pass the rest of this review by. But get MiraLAX if you need it. It works!** ***My Take on MiraLAX Laxative Powder*** This powder comes in its original prescription strength and contains only Polyethylene Glycol 3350, 17g (Laxative). There is absolutely nothing else in the powder like colors, flavors, fillers, or preservatives. The powder is white and looks like salt. When I first got it, I read the label and it said it could take one to three days for relief. THREE DAYS? I already was going on day three by then and I would have exploded if I had to wait three more. But my doctor, who had taken an X-Ray and proclaimed that my colon was "full of stool" (and he said it with a crinkled nose. I was so embarrassed...) told me to take **MiraLAX** and nothing else so  I poured the powder into the cap as directed and mixed it with about four ounces of water. There was no scent so I had no idea what I was in for when I drank it. To my surprise, the powder immediately dissolved and left no grit at all behind. The water was clear. And there is no taste AT ALL. I would have been very leery that anything at all was in the water had I not poured the **MiraLAX **into it myself. That was simple but then I prepared for the inevitable - abdominal cramps, nausea, and crazy urgency. I waited a couple of hours and nothing happened. Hmmm, maybe it WOULD take three days after all. Ugh. After a few hours, my stomach started to rumble a little. It didn't cramp but something was moving around in there and, at 46, it wasn't a baby! After about eight hours, I had a normal bowel movement. No explosive diarrhea or crazy urgency. I felt SO much better! i didn't have to make several trips to the bathroom and had no side effects. I have taken **MiraLAX Powder Laxative **once a week since then (a few weeks) until my thyroid meds are in check to avoid another "colon filled with stool" episode. Sheesh, that was TMI even for me and now YOU know it too. Sorry. Anyway, for me, this is the best laxative ever. I can't stand the stuff that is so harsh that it makes me feel sicker. This is gentle, simple, and effective. This product shouldn't be taken by kids under 17 unless directed by a doctor, probably because the dosage would have to be adjusted for smaller body weights. Kids DO take this though and have good results. There are a few sizes. You can buy a small plastic container with 17 doses or a larger one with 30. There may be other sizes as well. I bought the smaller container because I had no idea what it would do to me but, when I run out, I will replace it with the larger size because it is more cost effective. ***My Viewpoint*** For occasional constipation, it's hard to beat **MiraLAX Laxative Powder**. It basically draws water from the intestines to the colon where it naturally softens stool and gently helps regulate your system. There are no stimulants in it which is what makes people end up running like crazy to the bathroom, sometimes with very little warning. This stuff works! it's not immediate but it works within a reasonable time frame and is gentle***. 5 stars.*** Effectiveness After about eight hours, I had a normal bowel movement. No explosive diarrhea or crazy urgency. I experienced no cramps or discomfort and there was no urgency. Ease of Use To my surprise, the powder immediately dissolved and left no grit at all behind. The water was clear. And there is no taste AT ALL. So much better than the gritty and artificially flavored powders I have tried before. Immediacy This takes longer than some laxatives but it is gentle and there are no cramps or urgency/. It produces a movement without 8 hours, naturally and comfortably.
