Gets the job done

3

We've had our Mio GPS for nearly 2 years now, and while it is far from revolutionary, it does a pretty decent job of getting you from point A to point B. Pros = reliable directions, nice amount of volume, easily mounted. Cons = battery life, boots very slowly, interface is rather poorly designed.

It's... ok.

This gps is ok. It's not the best gps ever. It's not as good as a smart phone, but let's face it- a lot cheaper. We got it on a black friday sale before moving to a new city. It worked just fine for our needs in getting around a new place. It would get confused sometimes when there were several streets close together. It has a hard time in cities. It struggled while we were in Chicago. It takes a while to type in destinations. Overall- not the best, but sometimes you don't need or can't afford the very best. It works just fine.

This Mio GPS that I had gotten for my travels was a last minute purchase at Staples.  Was cheap and it did the job.  We used it on remote roads all along the California freeways.  Its nice because its so small and light weight that I can also put it in my purse and take it anywhere.  It also came with a in car charger - makes sense since it will remain mainly in the car.  It picked up the GPS signal very quickly and the 3.5 screen was easy to read, but during the day and during the night. It has about 1.5 million points of interest and was able to pick up various points of interest as we were on our travels. I am comparing it to an older version of Tom Tom that took forever to pick up a signal.  We did not have time to shop around and had to make a decision quite quickly as we were on the road and did not have any maps with us. This handy gadget was the perfect tool to view the maps and find hotel infomation with up to date phone numbers that we can contact directly. I would recommend this product for anyone who is looking for an afforadble GPS.

Mio Moov is great on the road, not so great for updates

The Mio Moov was my very first GPS device. When I initially bought it, it worked like a charm. I loved the text to speech option which converted all the written street names etc. on the device into speech, which would then tell me where to turn or drive. I liked that it was touchscreen and the directions it gave me were perfect. There are options to change different factors like fastest time or shortest distance. It also had an option where you can avoid toll roads! Overall the device itself was great. However after about a year, I got an email (since I had registered my device) that I should update maps on my device. This was a free procedure and so I followed all the directions and connected my GPS up to the computer and did the update. After that my device started giving me wrong directions. It also completely stopped giving me directions when I would make a mistake and not turn where it told me to. My advice to all consumers out there is don't update the device! Leave it as is and it will work amazingly well!

I absolutely love my Mio Moov 300! I received it as a christmas present last year before I moved across the country. I used my Mio driving all the way from Indiana to California and don't know how I would have made it without it! On the trip, I was able to find the nearest gas stations, rest stops, restaurants and hotels whenever I needed them. Also, once I was settled in my new hometown, my Mio helped me quickly get around town and become familiar with my surroundings. The 4.3 in screen is wonderful! And I love that it is a touch screen...it's so easy to use! The menu takes a little getting used to, but once you are familiar with it navigating your way around anywhere becomes amazingly simple! Whether you're sight seeing in a new place, visiting a friend's house or trying to find a new place to eat, the Mio will get you there. One of my favorite things about this GPS is that it has spoken street names! No more "turn right in 200 ft." If you're like me, you end up turning in 180 ft onto the wrong strees! This unit specifically tells you "turn right on Johnson St." For me, this is a MUST HAVE in any gps unit, and all the others I've come across that offer this are almost twice the price! Another great feature, and the one that I use most of, is all the POI's (points of interest) that are pre-programmed in the unit. Here you can look up restaurants, gas stations, stores, parks and so much more! You can locate them by whatever you are closest to, or by town or state. Every now and then I have come across certain places that are not in the unit (ex: Bass Pro Shop) but  for the most part it offers everything I need.

Very easy to use and tells you the street names

We got this for my mother for Christmas since she does a lot of travel for business and kept having to call my father at work for mapquest directions when she got lost. She LOVES her Mio Moov and finds it really easy to use. It's also very safety conscious and warns you if you hold it up in a way that could block your view.  I also like this one because it has "text to speech" meaning it tells you the street name coming up. Many GPS devices don't do this. Most just say "turn left in 200 ft" but don't say "turn left in 200 ft--State Street." When you're in a new place or have crazy intersections with diagonals, having the street name is really useful.  The Mio Moov is also a great bargain. Most GPS's with Text to Speech are really expensive. This one was affordable and easy to use.
