To the Point

We live in a house with lots of knotty pine. It was built in the 50s as a cottage. The good thing about knotty pine is that it's easy to hang pictures on because the holes aren't noticeable like they would be on pain or wallpaper. However I've been moving around pictures and noticed a lot of large holes. I went out today to the hardware store and bought a 3.75-ounce jar of Miniwax Wood Putty.

A Closer View

Since knotty pine has a lot of shades I wasn't all that worried about the shade. I ended up with Early American. There are lots of shades from which to pick and you can mix colors together if you are really concerned about matching.

We had putty but it hardened. Miniwax claims that this is non-hardening though I suppose after several years it might. For $2.79 I don't care if I have to buy more in a year. Its purpose is to repair small gouges, scratches and nail holes. That was me!!

If you are handy you might be using a wood filler or wood finish. The putty is color matched to those products. It can be used without sanding and on bare, stained or finished woodwork, paneling, molding, trim and doors. You can buy this at amazon.com. The website is www.miniwax.com.

I am old. Well I'm not ancient but I'm at the age where I can't see small print and I can't believe I'm saying this but I use a magnifying glass for many of my reviews. So it wasn't until I went to review this that I saw a putty knife was the suggested method of using the putty and though I washed my hands afterward I did so more to get the putty out from my fingers than for any health reason.

I usually do some research for my reviews and I found this from

http://householdproducts.nlm.nih.gov/cgi-bin/household/brands?tbl=brands&id=13018125.

Note that this is a government website thus one that is reliable (versus someone's blog).

So there I was going around the house with putty on my fingers and hands thinking nothing about it. No windows or doors were opened! Luckily I wrote this review before I did my entire house.

Jo's Viewpoint
I like it but don't like the toxicity.
