This medication is used to treat occasional constipation. It works by holding water in the stool to soften the stool and increases the number of bowel movements. It is known as an osmotic-type laxative.

This medication is also available without a prescription. If you are taking this medication for self-treatment,...

My son had been suffering from stomach pains.  When I took him to the doctor I was surprised to learn he was just constipated!  Only six years old, and already constipated!  So, she recommended Miralax.  It's a powder laxative that disolves in any liquid.  My son drank it right down, without complaining...

value and quality conscious, determined not to let illness stop me

Anyone who has a chronic illness that requires them to be sedentary for long periods of time will understand why constipation can become a problem. Prolonged inactivity coupled with a sluggish gastrointestinal system means that you may need a little help getting your body back in rhythm. My doctor suggested trying gentler laxatives such as Senekot or Miralax. I was intrigued by the commercials I've seen recently, so I purchased a bottle of Miralax Laxative Powder for $12.99 at Drugstore.com.

Instead of pills or chocolate pieces, the laxative is in powder form and is about the consistency of sugar...

I suffer(ed) from chronic constipation, but couldn't tolerate the over the counter medicines because they always left me feeling sick to my stomach and the results were unpredictable - I never could tell when I had to go. After seeing a gastroenterologist, he prescribed Miralax as a daily supplement. Thank god for that, too. I don't have any side effects, and now I am both "regular" and "predictable".

The bottle says not to take it for longer than two weeks, and I strongly recommend you follow those directions unless under doctor's orders.

Note that while it dissolves in liquid, it's best to wait...

I am always constipated. I have been diagonosed with Irrabtable Bowel Syndrome with Consipation for the last twelve years. I have tryed many laxitives and other medications my doctors have reccommended over the years. When I went to the doctor about eight months ago. He suggested that I give Miralax a try. Well, I am so glad I decided to give Miralax a try. The Miralax absolutely has no taste or smell at all. I add it in any beverages I drink. I have not been as consipated since I started using Miralax. The price for Miralax is very, very reasonable, and well worth it. Alot of times I can find...

I have been having problems with my bowel movements so my doctor referred me to miralax. I got the ok to take being a nursing mom they said miralax is not absorb into the milk “pharmacist“ with that information  my doctor gave me the ok. Its been 3 days now an I believe it is absorb my son is 2 months and for the past 6 weeks he has been pooping once every 5-6 days. Now he is pooping 4 times daily. Being concerned that the miralax may be affecting him I took him to pediatrician which is one of the best in my county and she could not find any problems with him and she gave me the ok to...

MiraLax is truly a miracle laxative.  My 16-month-old has chronic issues, and we've tried everything...  milk of magnesia, enemas, oral laxatives, suppositories, everything.  MiraLax is fantastic, because not only does it soften the stool so that it is not painful to go, it also is not a stimulant.  I HATE those products that make the bowels move but don't actually produce a bowel movement.  My daughter was severely impacted, and though MiraLax did take 3 days to work (at her age she only took a half dose), it was pain free and soft.  I cannot sing the praises of this product enough.  It's... review »

Constipation, it gives you a pain in the you know where lol.  I have tried everything for it, and my sister being a nurse told me about miralax, supposed to work quick and do the job.  I didn't give it much hope, but hmm it worked.  what can I say.  No cramping like the other stuff, just add it to water and down it goes, no awful taste, and it mixes well.  I don't take what they say on the bottle or I would never leave the bathroom lol.  I just put a little in the cap nd that is good enough for me.  Buy it and try it, it works when nothing else does.

My 9 year old son has been on Miralax for almost a year. Every time we try to wean him off, he gets blocked up again and we have to increase the dose.  We've done the Miralax "clean out" 4 times. Not sure if this has helped or made him more dependent on this product.

We were told by our doctor to wean him at 1/2 teaspoon every six weeks. At this rate it will take almost another year to just get him off of this.

This product does take time to work, not just one dose. It takes 2 weeks worth or more. Now you can put this in any drink and not taste it or just put it in water. It is exspensive but it is better to buy the bigger bottle because you will go through it really fast due to the amnout it takes. Look in your sunday papers Ifind coupons for it a lot to help the cost.
