Milton Bradley Don't Break the Ice Game Review Summary

Milton Bradley's Don't Break the Ice Game is a classic board game. This toy is enjoyed by kids and parent alike (most of whom remember it from their childhood.) Parents like Milton Bradley Don't Break the Ice Game because it is inexpensive and helps their kids relieve some frustration. AngelaLafon says, "This game doesn't take long to play and there aren't any tiny little pieces so it's a great family night game." Kids love it because it is fun and noisy. Mongo says, "It's a great game. Simple rules, no reading required, and makes your kids think." The few complaints are that the game itself is made of cardboard and that it is frustrating for smaller children to build up the ice blocks only to have them come tumbling down. Used currently, the game can teach kids about patience and how to lose graciously. The bottom line is that Milton Bradley Don't Break the Ice Game is a good buy for family game night.

When I was a little girl, I absolutely loved the Don't Break the Ice Game by Milton Bradley. This game is definitely worthy of being called a classic although we won't mention my age.  ;)  It's amazing that after all these years, I'm still playing this game but with my own children.

Rainy day at the beach and on vacation it's time to get a little creative to keep the kids entertained but since it's day two I don't want to break the bank quite yet.  Roaming the aisles at the grocery store the toy section the game Milton Bradley Don't Break the Ice Game is on sale for $5.00!  I remember this game from when I was a kid.  My brother loved this game!  My husband loved this game when he was a kid!  Sold!

Milton Bradley Don't Break the Ice Game comes home and the game is quickly set up.  We don't even need batteries!  Within minutes, my daughter giggles and squeals, "I...

My son, age five, received Don't Break the Ice by Milton Bradley for a Christmas gift this year.  This is a classic game that I remembered playing when I was younger so I was eager to play it with my son and my daughter, age three.

Set Up:  Don't Break the Ice is fairly easy to set up for an adult.  I simply fitted the two plastic outside edges together, flipped it over so that it laid flat on the floor, and inserted the plastic ice cubes into the tray.  The only difficult part was putting the polar bear on top of his ice cube without making the rest of the cubes fall down.  Neither of my...

Don't Break the Ice Game by Milton Bradley

Don't Break the Ice is a simple and yet unique game.  There's a frame in which ice cubes are arranged until a floor of ice is formed.  Each player takes turns tapping out ice cubes but trying not to let the whole floor fall.  If you break the ice, it's game over.  The whole idea of banging (kids will quickly learn that tapping works better) is such a kid attractive idea.

This game doesn't take long to play and there aren't any tiny little pieces so it's a great family night game, with some exceptions I'll address below.

The good news is that this game...

FUN GAME FOR KIDS!!!  I remembered playing this game with my brother as a child and we would always have hours of fun.  You put the ice cubes into place and then using a little hammer type thing you tap an ice cube for it to fall out.  If all of the cubes fall out then you lose.  At first you have to hit the cubes a little harder for them to come out but it does get easier as more have fallen.  Lots of fun for all ages!

We are one of the proud owners of this game,

We still own our don't break the ice from many years ago, great for children young and old.

The one thing I don't like is the square is now in two pieces and has to be put together.

we had glued ours together, not the best storage option, but was best for us.doesn't come apart after years of wear -n-tear.

A inexpensive game, that is really fun for the whole family if you can grasp the consept to tap lightly :)

I have this game for 15 years, when my first child was 5 years old he played with it for hours and then when my 2nd child came along both my children were playing with it together. and now my 3rd child is still playing with the game.  When my daughter and he dad play this game it brings back memories for me.         Its plastic and in great condition and still in the same box.

I love this game! I used to play with this when i was a kid and i always loved to put up the blocks together and play with my brothers.
It's fun not only for the game itself, where the kids try to smash down ice cubes until one of them takes down the center figure, losing the game.
It's a great game. Simple rules, no reading required, and makes your kids think.

I have played this game with my niece and nephew ever since they were little.  It is a great choice for an energic little boy because he gets the opportunity to use his destructive tendencies in a "positive" way.  And because the blocks are not super simple to put together, you can teach the children to think in how they man handle them into place.

This toy is great.  My son has loved playing it since he was two.  It is to play, he didn't have to be able to read and at age 5 we still play.  The ice cubes can be hard to put in but now at five he can do it himself.  It comes with several extra ice cubes for those time when you misplace one, in my house this is a great feature.

Great game.  Kept the boys busy for quite a while.  Took some time for them to figure out how to get the ice in place, but with some practice they can do it on their own and love it! We had to store it in a different container.  Would be nice if the box wasn't cardboard.

It is a fun game I can play with the kids. It is hard to set up. The kids always need help setting it up and then it does not last long. But they love playing it. The hammers bend easily too.
