Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel Chicago - Chicago, IL Review Summary

As hotel ratings go, the Millenium Knickerbocker Hotel in Chicago gets decent reviews. Reviewers loved the “historic feel”, the “warm and helpful staff”, and the fact that it’s only steps away from the Magnificent Mile makes it a “shopper’s delight”. Leisure and business travelers, however, felt that the Millennium Knickerbocker was not in the best shape, the bathrooms were small and it’s “a little smelly because it’s old”. Apparently it has an historic feel and an historic smell! Not sure hot to get here? Check out our airline reviews.

The Knickerbocker, located in downtown Chicago, is a historic hotel that actually delivers.  Classic style and gracious service have been the trademark of this elegant hotel since 1927.  This was apparent when, after checking-in and finding our room, we were startled by a knock on the… read full review »

Have traveled many times to Chicago and always stay in 4-star or better hotels. I had read a review of the Millenium Knickerbocker Hotel and noted a complaint about small bathrooms in the guest rooms. I figured it was just a nit-picker. Unfortunately, after our stay, I left knowing I would… read full review »

The Millenium Knickerbocker hotel Chicago is in a great location right across the street from the well known "Drake hotel." It is steps from Michigan avenue and the famed "Magnificent Mile." The guestrooms are however the worst waste of money I have ever spent on a hotel. The room was uncomfortably small for one person let alone for 2. Only one person can fit in the bathroom at a time and the shower is so small you feel clostrophobic. I am a very small person so this has never been a problem for me before? I brought a friend with me for her first visit to Chicago and I was very embarassed and… read full review »

The Millinneum Knickerbocker Hotel was a wonderful experience. From the moment my daughter and I checked in we were treated with nothing but outstanding service from all staff members. The room was very clean and comfortable but not huge. The bathroom was a bit small but had a great shower. It is an older hotel so the room size isn't going to be big but the cleaniness and decor did not have the feel of an older hotel. The location for the price was excellent! We were within walking distance to everything we wanted to do and, of course, there was always a cab waiting outside if we wanted… read full review »

This was my second stay at the Knickerbocker Hotel. Loved it. It has a great location, walking to the Magnificent mile, and able to walk to great restaurants on Rush St. Only took a cab once because of pouring rain and a broken unbrella. Upon check-in, we were informed we wer given a compoimentary upgrade to a suite! Nice surprise as the rooms are a wee bit small. However, the size of the rooms is outweighed by the great service and decor and location. Also they have the best chocolate martinis at the piano lounge. Great bartenders too!Shopping: Short Walk, Right by the Magnificent Mile,… read full review »

We had finding the hotel but once we arrived the hotel was very comfortable. Our room was a little small but we didn't spend much time in the room. The bathroom was very small. The location was great for our first visit to Chicago for my Daughter and I. We valeted our car with the hotel. The concierge helped a restaurant for dinner. We walked along lake Michigan after dinner. The next morning we went to Bloomingdales for breakfast and shopping. Then went back to hotel to check out by noon. All in all it was a very good stayDining: Short Walk, The hotel is very close to Rush St. with… read full review »

This was a great location for people who like to shop!! The room was beautiful and first class. The bathroom was very small but this didn't bother us because everything else was so great. We liked the lobby with the piano player and the concierge was friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others. We did not eat in the restaurant here but it looked nice.Shopping: Short Walk, Great location and one block from the Hancock Towers. We caught our tour group here and enjoyed the double decker buses. —… read full review »

The room was very clean and comfortable, although somewhat small. However, there was construction going on in the hall that started at 7:30 in the monrning. Not exactly the kind of wake-up call you'd prefer. Other than that it was a nice hotel, very close to shopping and dining.Shopping: Short Walk, Go to the Chicago Institute of Art. It's a little far from the hotel, but it has something for everyone. Across the street is a thai restaurant that was absoultely amazing, and cheap. —… read full review »

The location of the Millenium Knickerbocker is awesome - you're very close to the north end of the Magnificent Mile (Michigan Ave). Staff is very helpful. The lobby and shared areas of the hotel are very nice but the rooms themselves leave a little bit to be desired. The room is small but the bathroom is the real problem. Way too small and there is no counter to speak of. Decent value for the money but not a great room.Shopping: Short Walk, —… read full review »

the hotel is located just a 1/2 block off Michigan Avenue. the greatest shopping area in Chicago. Also close to many good resturants. The room was great! Bathroom is was very small, but adequate. the room and bathroom were very clean. We stayed on a Sunday night and the hotel was very quiet. Easy to relax. We would defintiely stay again.Shopping: Short Walk, Michigan Avenue otherwise known as the gold coast. the best shopping in chicago. —… read full review »

We come to the Knickerbocker every year for my birthday. It has a great location for shopping and dining. I like the uniqueness of the rooms. I love the one with the two bathrooms. Every one is very welcoming.Shopping: Short Walk, Water Tower Mall is one block away. The American Girl store is two blocks away. Fogo Da Chow is our favorite restaurant. It is a five minute taxi ride. The lake is also only several blocks away. —… read full review »

We will definitely consider staying at this historic hotel again.Shopping: Short Walk, Louis Vuitton store is next door and hotel is at the end of the Magnificent mile of shopping. The millenium of Chicago is a very old hotel. THey have tried to fix it up but it still smells a bit. THey did not tell us ahead of time that parking was on top of the hotel bill. It was 40.00 extra a night. you have no other options. I stay in Toronto and the parking is only 10>00 a day.Shopping: Short Walk, Chicago is wonderful and the shopping is one block away —… read full review »
