Milk Bone Original Dog Treats —

To the Point

I had two dogs who are now at the Rainbow Bridge. They ate Milk Bones all the time. When we got Hanna we decided we would buy higher end treats that typically aren't sold in the supermarket. Hanna loves Milk Bones. One of her favorite things is going with me to Mary Lou's Coffee www.viewpoints.com/Marylous-All-Locations-Plymouth-MA-review-35060

being a good girl (not barking) and getting a cookie that's much too large for her.

A Closer View

At the website you can see the many kinds of Milk Bones that are sold. http://www.milkbone.com. Mary Lou's gives her the large - 2 ¾ inch size. The packages come in 26-ounces, and 4 pounds up to 14 pounds. I looked at a 26-ounce box in the supermarket and saw that they were about $3.50.

It's recommended that she get one biscuit a day for a 33 pound dog. Hanna weights 8 pounds so even breaking these in half is too many calories (120 with 2.5 grams of fat) but once in awhile I don't mind.

I have to say I was so curious as to the ingredients in Milk Bones and if I were right in not buying these. From the website:

WHEAT FLOUR, BEEF MEAL AND BEEF BONE MEAL, MILK, WHEAT BRAN, BEEF FAT PRESERVED WITH TOCOPHEROLS, SALT, DICALCIUM PHOSPHATE, WHEAT GERM, NATURAL FLAVOR, CALCIUM CARBONATE, BREWERS DRIED YEAST, MALTED BARLEY FLOUR, VITAMINS .....and more.

Since we now give her organic or what I consider high-quality pet store or health food store brands the ingredients in the Milk Bones really do look bad. I don't know what's in the beef meal; where the wheat flour came from or what beef fat preserved with something I can't pronounce is.

Hanna's Thoughts

I get sad when Mommy reviews treats because sometimes I end up not getting them anymore. She said she'd still let me have Milk Bones only when we go to Mary Lou's. I love them. I think they smell really good (Mommy thinks they smell good too.) and taste delicious. Since one whole bone is big for me if Mommy hasn't broken it in half then I like to lick it for a long time until it gets soft. Then I can eat it more easily.

So Mommy and I have different Viewpoints but she's the boss so:

Jo's Viewpoint
I don't like it!

I am learning how to use this site. I found it from your site at Epinions.
