Mikasa
All Court Volleyball
My Viewpoint!
Recreational volleyball season has arrived and yesterday I went shopping for a new volleyball and kneepads. I have never used a Mikasa volleyball before and since it was on sale at Dicks Sporting Goods for only $19.99, most balls start at about $34.99, I decided to buy it and check out the pretty pink and white volleyball!
I don't know a lot about Mikasa brand but was assured by the staff at Dick's Sporting Goods that it's a popular product. After a practice with my new Mikasa All Court Volleyball, I have no idea why this particular brand is popular other than maybe the sales price.
First of all, I would like to state that Mikasa had a variety of Volleyballs for sale all in different colors. Plain white looked a little boring on the shelf next to all the Mikasa balls so I decided to go with the pink and white Mikasa All Court Volleyball.
The ball was pumped up to the appropriate level and my team mate stopped by so we could practice setting and bumping with my new volleyball. The outside of the ball has a nice soft feeling cover that I thought would feel softer when bumping. I was wrong. Holy cow, was I ever wrong! By the end of a an hour and a half practice, I had swollen hands and sore wrists. The Mikasa All Court Volleyball was brutal on me!
The Mikasa All Court Volleyball isn't all bad. I love the accu-balance technology and it did sail on course perfectly. Setting the Mikasa volleyball was a dream. You really couldn't feel the ball on your fingertips, which doesn't make sense since it was like bumping a rock!
Will I ever buy a Mikasa All Court Volleyball again? Probably not. In fact, my team mate assures me that she will NEVER practice with my volleyball again.
Maybe I'll be returning the Mikasa All Court Volleyball to Dick's Sporting Goods tomorrow?
