Is this dishwasher worth the price?

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

Dishwashers range in price from about $350 at the low end to $1500 at the high end.  What could possibly make a dishwasher (like the Miele Inspira reviewed here) worth more than $1,000?  Good question. Consumer Reports ranks 10 dishwashers from 7 different companies ahead of the first Miele brand dishwasher.  So what does Miele give you that Consumer Reports did not take into account?  As I sat down to review the Miele that was was exactly the question I asked myself.

We have this dishwasher because our previous dishwasher was also a Miele and when it broke down after 8 years (less than 10% of Consumer Reports reader reported serious problems with their Miele) of he...

SO QUIET ~~!! Inspira G2142, updated model

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

Since there was no place to review the Miele Inspira G2142, which appears to be a newer Miele model than the 2140 reviewed previously, I would like to add a few thoughts.

After hunting forever to find a QUIET dishwasher, I met the Miele in my local appliance store, and listened carefully to the salesman's presentation regarding plastic interiors versus stainless steel, and which ones were rated below 51 decibels (considered among the quietest dishwashers made), and only the highest end Kitchen Aid (nearly $2000!!) rated in the 40s.  Also heard the Miele dishwashers are known to last 20 or more years, while most domestic brands typically last between 9 and 12 years.  The Whirlpool ...

Yes, it is possible to hate an appliance...

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

I own the Miele 2142 which was rated #1 last year by various sites and Miele is still ranked highly with JD Power, as one quickly learns while sitting interminably on hold with their tech support department. Don't be fooled. This Miele replaced a Bosch which ran without issue for over a decade. Miele is the worst appliance I have ever owned. It does not clean well, it does not dry, it requires regular "desoaping" with white vinegar as well as cleaning the trap and refilling the Rinse Agent frequently. The service department is inane, and tries to explain that the poor drying is because it is "European and Green." Please, spare me. And now back to putting a fan in front of the overheated unit...

Customer Service Sucks

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

We are looking to replace our broke down Miele dishwasher after 1 yr of use. We originally paid over $1200 (plus taxes) and for 2 installations because we were not aware that only a Miele tech can install the machine. The machine broke after 1 month; and now it broke again. It costs $189 plus taxes for the tech to come out and let us know what is wrong. We decided after numerous phone calls to customer service that we will not be repairing it and instead we will buy something else. One would think that for a premium brand, customer service could be more curtuous and not insulting by saying that it was negligence on our part that broke the machine - I just use it to wash dishes - I don't...

My Miele Inspira Dishwasher is so quiet I don't know it's on!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I love my Miele Inspira dishwasher.  It cleans very well with minimal rinsing.  It takes about 1/3 of the soap that my other dishwasher took and it is so quiet that I don't know it's running.  Was well worth the extra money to have such a fine appliance.
