Ordered Midland GXT900VP4 when they first came out and was back ordered. The size and functionality of the radio is like other radios so you don't have to re-learn how to use it. The waterproof part may be a over statement and should read water resistant since it says protects from splashes, but I guess I'll find out later when it rains. They advertised a range up to 30 miles. In the hills of Two Rock, Petaluma the land of the happy cows it was more like 2.5 miles to 3. Even less than that if you have one person indoors.
