Microsoft - Zune (80GB) Media Player —

When I first met my Zune, I was overjoyed.  I loved it more than any other gadget I had ever known.  It was easy to use, had cool features that the iPod never considered,  and an excellent battery life.  Plus, the satisfaction of being able to click the navigation buttons brought me back to sanity after previous mishaps with the iPod's dreaded click wheel.
However, after a year of smooth use, my Zune turned on me.  Songs started stopping early, screens started freezing, and the entire device would go haywire and emit sequences of ungodly noises for minutes, even hours, at a time.  I was heartbroken.
Upon researching this problem, I found that many other users where having the same troubles.  Luckily, Zune customer service agreed to send me a new device, but now I watch my Zune cautiously, and with unease.  I fear that one day, my new one will rebel just as the previous one did.  Hopefully I can switch over to an iPod before this Zune is completely worthless.
But that darn click wheel will be the end of me....

In response to vytas's comment from Dec 18, 2007 at 1:51PM:

I did upgrade my Zune interface, but the results were not encouraging.
The upgrade completely disorganized my music library, took away features I liked, and added ones I didn't need. It even switched around the info on many of my songs, attributing some to albums they didn't even belong to.
Microsoft took something that was working fine and then reworked it and made it more complex than necessary. In fact, I believe that Microsoft was trying to imitate Apple's vision of "simplicity" in it's new interface for the Zune and the computer application, but instead made the entire thing more difficult to use.
Some good additions in the upgrade, however, were the new "Podcasts" section, a nicer appearance, improvements on the wireless capabilities, and some links that made it easier to navigate between related artists on the Zune.

Did you ever upgrade to the Zune 2.0 interface/OS?

Hey there!! Welcome to viewpoints!
I hear ya about the wheel on the Ipod. It drives me insane, as well.
