Microsoft - Zune (80GB) Media Player —
First, the pros. The Zune has a lot of software that its competitor, the ipod, does not. This includes the radio and the ability to wirelessly send songs to fellow zune users. In some stores (online included) the zune is better-priced than the 30 GB ipod, although some consider it to have more features than the ipod. The Screen is substantially larger than that of the 30 GB ipod, which is good for easy video-music viewing. Now, for some cons. Like many Mp3 players, when played loudly, the battery does tend to drain quickly, as opposed to the 14 hour battery life advertised on the packaging. The look and shape of the zune can also be considered a con: it is bulky, thicker, and kind of resembles a block, as opposed the new, sleeker, more modern look of the ipod 30GB. Also, the zune does lack the popular click-wheel that the ipod has, which can come as a disadvantage to users who are used to the ipod. Also, finding software for the zune player is more difficult than finding software for the ipod. Users who have previously owned an ipod will find that murchandise purchased on itunes cannot be synced to the zune player (and understandably so). The zune online store does not have as much variety as the itunes online store, which is also a disadvantage. Also, depending on the person, earphones have been found to be somewhat uncomfortable, but this of course is a small factor of the over-all satisfaction of the zune media player. All in all, the zune is a wonderful, new, fresh, inovative media device. In time, i am sure that microsoft will come out with newer versions in which some of the above stated problems can be fixed because as all new gadgets, it is a work in progress.
