I only bought this Microsoft Zune 120GB MP3 Playerabout 4 weeks ago, I must admit that I was just as intimidated as I was excited. After all, I was moving from a 1GB SanDisk MP3 Player that I had been using for over a year to a giant black monster that called itself the Microsoft Zune 120GB MP3 Player. I couldn't even imagine what it could do, and Microsoft is of no help when you open the box because the only instructions that exist are to place a CD in your computer and how to plug in your Zune. Absolutely not a single word on what to do after that. I'm grateful for their faith in my knowledge of electronics, but a little hand book on the basics of what to do would have been nice.

The Microsoft Zune 120GB MP3Player software took quick control of my laptop and instantly recognized all the music stored inside. I decided to start off simple and download music from there. Mind you, a 1GB SanDisk takes about 30 to 45 seconds to download a song. The Zune ate an entire U2 CD in less than 15 seconds. so soon I was bopping around learning how to adjust the volume, make playlist and so forth. Oh, and one note, the Zune can put out a lot of sound. I'm not kidding. I have damaged hearing already, and going past 15 on a 20 scale was blurring my vision.

With a Zune, you must purchase a Zune pass to easily access Zune's marketplace of music, videos and podcasts, which is quite extensive. If you have Napster, or buy your tracks at WalMart.com, you can still use those, but you must first put them into your Windows Media, then make a playlist and then sync the playlist to Zune. It's a very long and boring process, so I simply canceled my Napster and signed up with Zune. Funny how they're the same price.

After this, I spent four hours downloading music, podcasts, videos and everything I could. It was so easy and so much fun because the selection Zune has is rather large. Then I decided to take a long walk to enjoy my new entertainment. There was just one small problem, not a single item was on my Zune. It seems that downloading in the Zune Marketplace does not actually place the data onto your Zune. You must click and drag the data to the little Zune on the bottom left hand corner of the screen to sync the data into the Zune. Lesson learned.

Now that I have tried and failed so many times, I now know about 80% of what I am doing, and this Microsoft Zune 120GB MP3 Player is simply amazing. I take it everywhere I go and just beg for an excuse to use it, even if it's just for 5 minutes. There's also some incredible little nuances about the Microsoft Zune 120GB MP3 Playerthat I'd like to share with you, that Microsoft doesn't market very well, but makes the Zune even cooler.

1. You can program in your favorite FM Stations. Then when you're listening and here a song that you like, you can mark it and the next time you hook up to your PC, Zune will automatically look for it to download and sync. Cool!

2. Zune is a wireless product, so you can use the Marketplace or Social functions anytime while you're out. Sweet!

3. The LCD Screen is crystal clear and great to watch short videos on. Nice!

On the downside, like every MP3 or Media Player sold, the earphones suck the big green weenie. I replaced mine with the Microsoft in-ear buds. They're wonderful. The AC Adapter does not come in the box, which is no biggie since you can power your Zune by plugging it into your PC. Last, you must get a case for it. It's too big and heavy to risk dropping. I found a nice case at Sears for $9.99.

If it were possible, I would be more that grateful for this Microsoft Zune 120GB MP3 Player. As a media player it far exceeds my expectations, and everything about it, aside from the cheap earphones, says high quality. It's the best toy I've received in many years, and I intend upon taking full advantage of it. Oh yeah, and it's also very cool to show it to your friends and have them envy your new toy. That may be one of the best parts.
