Might be a great console... but I wouldn't know

I really like the Xbox 360. The games have stunning HD visuals and surround sound, and are a lot of fun overall. Playing with your buddies online (via Xbox Live) is also a blast. Gears of War, Guitar Hero, and Madden have kept me up late many a night. However; unfortunately for me, this is not my first Xbox 360. Or my second. It's actually my fourth console since it was released in November 2005, and I have to send it back in for service... yet again. This was what I THOUGHT was going to be a new and exciting game,vastly different from ALL other games,but my sons and I were very disappointed! This is just a slightly newer version (with a remote control) of the 2nd edition with a horribly marked up price!AND FORGET playing the OLD XBOX games! To get the "FULL EFFECT" you have to have the NEW XBOX 360 games!The games are even more expensive than the old XBOX games,as if that was possible!The console/core game are going for outrageous prices!Even BROKEN units are selling for high prices on eBay...the reason so many are for sale on ebay .....they...

So...I broke down for Christmas and bought my husband an XBox 360. He had a dinosaur of an old xbox, which I ended up trading in for credit toward the purchase of his new gaming system. My husband is a fisherman, but in the winter, he really does need an extra hobby, so being the good wife that I am, I decided it was time to get him the new gaming console. At first, I was just going to get the $199 arcade system, but I was told that this particular XBox 360 doesn't have a hard drive, and I knew my husband would need one to store games. Oh where to start about the beloved XBOX 360... the system in my house is used on a daily basis for 4 hours PLUS, each day. My husband is a huge gamer, he upgraded from the original XBOX as soon as the 360 console came out. When the graphics are paired with a HD tv, they are amazing. I've owned the Xbox 360 for a year now. It's served me very well, not only as a gaming machine, but also as a media center.

Games: First, the depth of games for this console is far more than for the PS3 and the Wii. There are more "mature" games than the we. However, the PS3 might have a slight edge in the graphics column. You can also find game that are very appropriate for all of the people in your household, such as Viva Pinata.

I had excellent luck with my original Xbox -noproblems, so I thought I would put out the money for the 360. Big Mistake! After about 8 hours of easy going gaming (never more than an hour at a time), the thing started turning off and rebooting. I called customer service and the guy was nice, but all he could do was put me on hold and read off a manual. He didn't seem to really know anything. He decided I should send it in. We had to wait for the box to arrive, pack it and take it to shipping. After 3 weeks (and no communication), we got a package and guess what? It was not my new...

I bought an XBOX 360 in the prime of its existance, and still own the model I purchased. I have no idea what people do to bring out their dreaded "red-ring-of-death", but I assume it is due to lack of proper ventilation. And, I agree that the console does get hot, and that could most definitely lead to hardware failure. So, if considering this console always keep that in mind if you had a very closed off, humid, room with a lot of carpeting. Now enough about the bad! I love this machine! Xbox is just plain fun! It's great to play with other people from around the world...The graphics are outstanding, as well as the gameplay. However, the Xbox 360 has its drawbacks. At times it is difficult to load games. Sometimes the system crashes and you are unable to access the "marketplace." And of course, the main drawback to Xbox is the so called "red ring of death" When you see a red light around your console, either partly or fully, you know there is a SEVERE problem and a good chance you'll be shipping it back to Microsoft. Tried the PS 3, and it failed to impress. Wanted the Elite, but they were sold out everywhere. "settled" for this model, and it is fantastic! Never had a problem with it, despite having six cats rubbing against it and sleeping on it whenever I'm not looking. If that hasn't caused it to overheat, and running it 24/7 hasn't, I don't know what will. Either that or those "Three lights of Death" are burned out - but wouldn't that mean the box wouldn't work, either? I'm giving the XBox a 2 because just about everyone I know who has one has the 3 light problem with their system. The system is AWESOME when it works. Graphics are great, sound quality good, games are fantastic.. But how can anyone enjoy it, when the system keeps breaking down. My system is off for repair so we'll see how it works when it gets back. According to Microsoft, repair time is 3 weeks including shipping time..

I personally think XBox came out too soon because of all the hype and they didn't spend time testing and debugging it. No wonder Wii is so popular.

Need to offer replacement systems

Have brought two of these systems. The first one lasted from Feb. until Aug. When I called to get help with it, was told that system would overheat and that I would have to purchase a new warr. in order to get it fixed. Wanted a replacement since it was only six months old and could not get it. I have brought xbox systems before and this by far was the worst experience that I have had with one. They cost to much and even though the sound and graphs are good it was a waste of money.

This is the worst game system in the world. It over heat's and you have to pay so much to get thing's added to the system, like a dvd player and more componantes to cool the system off.. They never have a good number of games to select from it cost's you over 500 dollar's to upgrade the system . I will never buy another system from them in the future. Sorry but it is just not worth the money.

Xbox 360 is great my entire family really enjoy playing the only downside i've seen is some games you have to buy the extra hard drive before you can play plus you have to pay for the play on line service before being allowed to play you have to pay a monthly fee if your on a budget like me it makes it rough. But overall its a great system.
