Microsoft - Xbox 360 Premium Console —
So...I broke down for Christmas and bought my husband an XBox 360. He had a dinosaur of an old xbox, which I ended up trading in for credit toward the purchase of his new gaming system. My husband is a fisherman, but in the winter, he really does need an extra hobby, so being the good wife that I am, I decided it was time to get him the new gaming console. At first, I was just going to get the $199 arcade system, but I was told that this particular XBox 360 doesn't have a hard drive, and I knew my husband would need one to store games. I sucked it up and went with the XBox 360 with the 60 gb hard drive. Of course, when I purchased it, and Call of Duty World at War for him, I almost fainted when the store clerk told me the total price. Boy, I must really love my husband and I sure hope I get jewerly in return for it! I came home and set it up and gripped and moaned about the price for a few days. I ended up breaking open the two free games the system came with, Kung Fu Panda and Indiana Jones Lego. Yes, they are for children, who probably have better video gaming skills than I do, but I played them anyway. Surprisingly, they were fun. More importantly, though, my husband really enjoys the system. For additional money, we subscribed to the XBox Live feature, where he can play games against people worldwide. Once again, I was sour about the extra money, but, I can say honestly that all the money spent on the system has been well worth it. Not only does my husband have a hobby that he enjoys, but the XBox 360 60gb has a lot of neat features, too. The XBox Live feature would be the first one. It does add an extra challenge to the game to be able to play with people from all over the world. Also, you can hook the system up to your home computer and transfer media from Windows Media player to the XBox console, and then in turn play the media on the television.
Now, the only downfall to this gaming system, is the price of items. However, that can be said for any gaming system out there. In my opinion, the games and accessories are a bit overpriced, especially in today's economy. The Call of Duty World at War game I purchased was almost $60 dollars and the used games can be close to $25. Buyer be wary of the price. But, with that aside, it's a really great system that I think the whole family can enjoy and you will get your money's worth at some point.
