Microsoft - Xbox 360 Premium Console —
I've owned the Xbox 360 for a year now. It's served me very well, not only as a gaming machine, but also as a media center.
Games: First, the depth of games for this console is far more than for the PS3 and the Wii. There are more "mature" games than the we. However, the PS3 might have a slight edge in the graphics column. You can also find game that are very appropriate for all of the people in your household, such as Viva Pinata.
Graphics: The graphics are dependant on the game, as with all systems. The games that take full advantage of the system are stellar, such as Gears of War. Earlier games and underfunded games may not look as good on an HDTV.
Media Center: This is a very underused aspect of the Xbox. If you have a Media Center PC, you can hook the Xbox and the PC to the same network and stream music to your stereo and video to your TV. There is one drawback, and that is the lack of support for Divx or Xvid (.avi files). This is a huge negative, because let's face it, most video content is downloaded from the net (no so legally). This almost always comes in these formats. If/when it gets support for this, it will bring the rating up another star for me. Also, beware that the wireless adapter for the console is subpar and will not recieve HDTV quality signals over the network. For those with Media Center PCs that want to stream HD, this is a problem.
Add ons: The HD-DVD player add-on is great for watching the movies. The clarity is great and the load time beats any of the stand-alone players. However, I could not get the internet features to work correclty on the disks. I sold mine and bought a cheap HD-DVD stand-alone which I've very happy with.
This machine is highly recommended.
