My husband has never been able to get used to using the touch pads on the computer rather than a mouse. I'm quite proficient at the touch pads and prefer them over a mouse but in comes the Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse Model Number 3000. He loves it. I don't but I'll be objective.

The Microsoft Mouse 3000 has a lot to offer.
When I was about to purchase my Compaq Presario CQ60-410US notebook computer a few weeks ago, one of the decisions I made was to buy as many of the accessories I knew it would need as my limited budget would allow. After all, even though the nearly $400 price tag clearly puts my new laptop in the affordable range for the average computer buyer, it represents a ginormous expense for this freelance writer/reviewer and thus requires both protection/portability (in the shape of a Targus CVR217 Neoprene Slip Case) and ease of use (via a wireless mouse).

review »I travel a lot for my job. When I am at work I rely upon my docking station and my wired mouse. But with the power cord and brick, the removable disk drive (I have a tablet laptop and there just isn't room for a disc player), the charging cords for my black berry, cell phone and kindle, I just cant handle an more cords.
Enter the Microsoft Wireless Optical 3000 Wireless Mouse. I was skeptical that it would work. Would it roll, would I have to put my had at an odd angle to make sure the optical eye had the correct contact with its receiver... on and on I worried that this would be a disappointment...

The design is ergonomic, no hand-cramping happening here!, and is designed for both right-handed and left-handed users. It uses very little energy, requiring only infrequent battery changes. One disappointment is rechargeable batteries really can't be used in the mouse, they just don't have enough "juice"!
