Bottom-Line: Overall I am pleased with the improvements WinXP Pro SP2 brought to the table, the most welcome of which was a built-in popup blocker for Internet Explorer.
I have used every version of Microsoft's premiere business Operating System (OS), Windows XP Professional from the native Green box version to Service Pack 2 (SP2). With very few exceptions the OS has proved to be a very stable and reliable partner, both at home where I run (4) Windows XP Pro SP2 machines, and at work where I help administer over 1500 Windows XP Pro desktops and laptop computers. I addition, to my WinXP Pro
.Windows xp with service is rock solid. My machine was running windows 98 se.
I no longer have blue screen. The internet moves alot faster on xp.
windows xp is a really good operating system.
Windows xp is very easy to easy install. If...
I now have vista sadly instead of this masterpiece of an operating system, and i regret every bit of it. Performance with xp is far more than with vista and plus there are a ton of bugs in vista even after the sp1 update. Not to mention the compatibility issues with vista. Simply put....Buy xp! not vista!
While I am no longer make my living as an IT guy, I think I can say I am qualified to say something about Microsoft Windows XP (w/service pack2) Operating System (OS). I started using computers when Windows 3.1 was around and the only good thing I could say about windows 3.1 was that it was something you could run on any old low cost computer. And although apple's Macintosh was more stable and faster it was way out of the price range of most average guys trying to buy a first computer.
As systems got faster PC's were still second rate compared the Apple OS 7, 8, and 9.
Windows NT was a solid OS...
My computer at work has the Windows XP Professional software on it, it's a little different than all the other windows programs but they're all compatible, all the prior software works with it, no need to modify anything. It works greaaaaaaaaaat! I had to purchase a new computer for home, my old system had the windows 2000 on it, and now my new one, unfortunately has the VISTA Home Premium, which is not worth crap. I'm going to have a computer GEEK change the software on my computer to the Windows XP Professional, Windows XP is the only program to have. My computer at work runs so much...
read full review »Windows XP (especially the Professional edition) is the longest living OS from MS due to its stability, compatibility, and flexibility.
When compared to its predecessors (Windows 2000/ME) and successor (Vista), XP easily out performs them in every useful category (I will admit that Vista looks prettier, but since that doesn't make your PC run faster it is a non-issue).
Unfortunately, it will be almost impossible for you to find a copy now as MS has stopped shipping and stores are out of stock. If you need to replace your OS, hold out for Windows 7 (skip Vista... waste of money).
I use Windows XP on a daily basis. It's user friendly. If you don't like the XP views, you can always go back to the classic views. As someone who has used computers for a number of years, the classic views works better for me.
Windows XP could be a little bit faster on log-on.
No complaints.
