I am so angry with my computer right now that I just dont think I can possibly be objective.... but I will try. Vista has been challenging for me since day.

Vista, first and foremost, is a pretty big deviation from past microsoft products. It required me to re-train myself on where to find nearly EVERYTHING!...

Hindsight is 20/20.  I bought my son a new PC with Windows VISTA shortly after Microsoft introduced it.  The H.P. came with 1024MB of memory.  Not knowing any better, I thought this would be enough.  After all, my original Gateway with Windows XP only had 256 MB of memory that I upgraded to 512.  This (1024MB) doubled the amount found in my Gateway.

The first thing we noticed is that NOTHING was compatible anymore.  My "WORD 2002" wouldn't work in this PC.  None of my son's old games would work either.  That was just the beginning.  It took forever to load up everything.  After downloading...

Microsoft's newest operating system (aside from the Windows7 beta released recently) Vista, has gotten the worst rap of an operating system. Well, that's if you don't count the notorious XP when it first came out, especially the SP2 release. And now everybody wants to go back to XP and no one will touch Vista.

There are several arguments against Vista. The one I hear the most is how much of a system drain it is. While this is arguably true, it may not be as bad as you think. If you disable all of the graphics effects it runs well on only 512 mb's of ram. And for those who have upwards of...

I purchased a Dell laptop with Windows Vista about two years ago. At the time, I had heard some negative things about Vista, but the sales person talked me into getting Vista rather than XP. He claimed that the bugs had been fixed and that Vista was very user friendly. He was wrong.

My laptop was ok for about six months, until one of the automatic updates caused it to go into an endless restart loop. It took me days to get it fixed, but I finally managed to do so and turned off the updates. However, my computer has never really worked properly since this happened. At this point, I cannot download...

I won a laptop from my school and since it was brand new it had windows vista. The program is ok. I don't have any complaints. Some of my older games aren't for vista though so I don't know how they will work. I also can't download some programs. If you buy a new computer I know some places give you the option to downgrade for Xp. You should probably try vista for awhile though.I personally don't see any difference between the operating systems except for the sound when you turn the computer on.

Paradoxically, Windows Vista is both revolutionary and evolutionary. While it includes modern OS features,...

While some people have problems with Vista, my system runs Vista like it's no big deal. Of course, I do have a quad-core processor and 8 GB of ram, but who's counting?

I love the interface and the new styles that have been encorporated into Vista. The user friendly nature of it is easy to learn and use. I have the 64-bit version and it has not had any problems with program compatibility. Every 32-bit software that I load on it works great. The only thing that didn't load was an anti-virus program, but when they released the 64-bit version, it worked great.

Vista is not prone to crashing like some...

Vista for Windows is horrible. I hate it! Ever since i bought our new Dell laptop, i have had nothing but trouble with Vista!!!! I would erase it if i could and gladly go back to XP.

i have had my computer crash so many times from Windows Vista and i hate it!!!!!!!!

It is so annoying, every day i have to load and reload things i already downloaded. it crashes every email system i put on it and that includes windows email!! This is the worst thing and i am considering an apple mac computer next time i buy a laptop!!!!@

If you're in the market for a computer, try to wait until Oct 10 when Windows 7 comes out (or get a Mac). Windows Vista is horrible. Processing slows down measurably. At work we decided to upgrade two of our computers, and Vista has wreaked havoc since. Our $30k program does not work well with Vista, alternately creating errors and not functioning at all. Also, we had to also upgrade our network printer/fax because it wasn't compatible with Vista. Well, the new unit (a $5k additional expense) is supposedly compatible but is also having trouble with Vista.

When I got my new computer, the only option was to get Windows Vista already installed.  I was hesitant, but had my Windows XP disc handy just in case I needed to switch.  When I loaded it up, I was pleasantly surprised - the intergrated SidePanel allows me to keep my favorite games and tools on my desktop at all times.
The only complaint that I have is that it is a resource hog - my computer runs slightly slower than I would expect it to as a new computer but I would say that its worth it! :)

My next pc definatly won't have windows vista. It is to slow and to complacated. Right now my computer keeps locking up and I have to restart every time, and it takes along time to load up. So I don't know if it's windows vista or not. Windows Vista won't let me download some programs.

Windows Vista is pretty starting out but in using E-mail and reading and viewing web pages it is the worst I have ever seen. The letters are so small you cannot read them. Every time you click a link the page shrinks up to one third of it's size. I would not recommend this to anyone.
