Sidewinder: What a mouse!

By

from Fremont, CA

Comments about Microsoft Sidewinder Gaming Mouse:

This is a wonderful mouse. Functional, affordable, and easy on the eyes.Pros:

*Customizable macro buttons. Very handy, especially in PC games.

*On-the-fly DPI switching. Playing TF2 and need to switch to sniper real quick? Change that DPI, yo.

*Nice feel to it. Customizable weight set.

*Customizable feet. I would recommend teflon (the white ones). Smooooth.

Cons:

*Very large, which could be a problem if you are unfortunate enough to have tiny hands.

*The scroll wheel could be better. When it gets dirty, it tends to make a squeaking sound upon scrolling. Just make sure to clean it every once in a while. Also, there is no horizontal scrolling or tilt-wheel functionality, which is a bit of an inconvenience. Oh well.

Despite these cons, this mouse is definitely worth the retail price. I would buy twelve of these mice if I could. No, that's a lie. One mouse will do. But seriously, this mouse is great.

Great For People With Big Hands

By

from Fremont, CA

Comments about Microsoft Sidewinder Gaming Mouse:

This is one of the best mice I've ever owned, although, I have not owned many. I have somewhat small hands and I had to sell this mouse after a few weeks of owning it. I found that it was a little too big for people with small to medium sized hands. The biggest problem is people who have hands that are too small is that you'll have a hard time reaching the side buttons. It'll feel uncomfortable and may conflict with your gaming performance as well as strain your wrist. One thing I really liked about this mouse was the ability to change the weights and customize the way you play according to weight. The mouse itself is actually quite sturdy and it feels very well built and reliable in your hand. 2000 dpi is plenty for anyone, anything above that is just overkill. The cord is very long and won't be a problem for those of you who have your computers on the floor or away from your desk. The case that comes with the weights is also very well built.

Larger than normal, but nice feel.

By

from Jackson, TN

Comments about Microsoft Sidewinder Gaming Mouse:

The first thing I noticed about the sidewinder, aside from it's sleek design, was how big it was. Now I have pretty big hands to begin with, but have never had a problem using a mouse before. The sidewinder by Microsoft, however, immediately let me know what I had been missing. It's bigger design gave me a more comfortable fit, and helped to keep my hand relaxed. I guess it's one of those things that you don't really notice the difference unless you have something to compare it to.

Moving on, the sidewinder mouse has three different DPI settings: 400, 800, and 2000. These are changeable on the fly, so say if you are running around in a first person shooter, you can keep the medium or high settings for normal play, but once you need to steady a shot, drop the DPI to 200 for the best control.

The mouse also came with several different sizes of weights which is nice to get the feel you want. It also has three sets of feet to change depending on your mouse pad surface.

Great mouse with custom feet

By

from Daytona Beach, FL

Comments about Microsoft Sidewinder Gaming Mouse:

This mouse is a good choice if you are getting into gaming.  The software offered from Microsoft is very customizable and gives you the ability to assign tasks for each button.  This feature worked particularly well for me when I wanted to use my mouse for a quick copy/paste feature.  The mouse comes with interchangeable feet so you can get that perfect match for you particular surface.  The mouse itself is a much better fit than some of the smaller gaming mouses.  It fits comfortably for hours, I never have a problem with cramping, etc.  One really cool feature is the dpi settings on the mouse.  This allows for customizable mouse sensitivity while in game.  It's perfect for say, when you are in a first person shooter and pick up a sniper rifle and want you mouse to be slow and steady.  Or perhaps when you get into a helicopter and want a quick mouse to be able to keep up with the quick pace action.  A definite positive in my gaming arsenal.
