Microsoft Office 2007 Professional  —

In many ways, I agree with the writers of other reviews of Office 2007. It is definitely bloated and there is a steep learning curve for users who have experience with Office. On the other hand, I have seen people who are not Office-philes get going very quickly. Once you learn where something is on the ribbon, you find that the tasks you are going to do at that time are all on the same ribbon tab. Productivity increases and dogs and cats sleep together (okay, so I made the last part up).

I will also state that I, as a long time Office user, had difficulty with Office 2007 at first. In fact, I still occasionally find myself having to hit help for a feature I do not use very often. Once I find it, however, I generally bang my head and say "I could have had a V8", or something very similar.

Office 2007 makes sense. It does not make sense in light of Office {choose your favorite older Office version}, but it makes sense as a program. And, programs should rise or fall on their own merits. I did, however, knock down a peg for forcing me to use help to find features. :-)
