Good but doesn't last too long

4

The headset works for a while but after a while the sound on the right side completely faded away. This happened to the three headsets that I owned. All three headsets were not that durable, hence me having to call Microsoft to replace each headset with my warranty. The warranty time period is extensively long. If you are looking for a cheap and good enough headset this is the one for you, but be wary that it may not last for a while.

Great until it starts shorting out!

These offer the best features but have had to replace 3 in less than a year. We are not rough on the headset I just wish they wouldn't start cutting out. As far as comfort and sound quality great. But save your receipt so you aren't throwing your money away. I like the features so much, over what is available in my small town, I replaced the last one with the same! Don't know if the problem is in the cable but it is annoying.

Decent headphones for heavy use

I used this LifeChat series of headsets in a call center every day for several years. The USB connectivity rocks, and works very well with a softphone, such as Cisco IP Communicator. The sound quality is generally very good, and the mic is sensitive enough to pick up latent conversation across the room. This makes the user thankful for the in-line set of volume/mute buttons. The placement of the buttons on the line is sometimes awkward, perhaps 2 feet down cord from the headset. I believe it should be a bit farther away from the body, but this is a matter of personal preference. This headset is comfortable for all-day wear. The muffs don't cause overheating or discomfort issues like some cheaper brands. I was about to say this headset was "overbuilt", but I did experience breakage on one of the arms holding the offside (without the mic) can. This happened to 2 headsets within 1.5 years. I like to wear my headphones really tight to the ear, and the extra tension may have contributed to this failure. Overall the headset still has above average durability relative to comparable products. Price point on a LifeChat headset is usually a bit more spendy than typical 3.5mm jack headphones. In many cases, I think it's worth the extra money.

Extremely Pleased with the LiveChat LX-3000

5

I use the Microsoft LiveChat LX-3000 Headset on my home computer for playing videogames, specifically Counter-Strike Source, and it works absolutely wonderfully. The headset gives a great 3-dimensional effect, so that I can easily tell when enemies are creeping up behind me. There are many voice applications gamers use, perhaps the most popular one being Ventrillo, and this headset is perfect for communicating to my friends over the internet. Voices come in clear as a cell-phone, and vice-versa. The mic is long enough to where my breathing won't register as sound, and sturdy enough to where I set it up where I want it and it stays there until I'm finished. (Whereas with some other headsets I feel like I constantly have to readjust the mic because it 'falls' over time). I have a friend who has this same headset, but he uses it for WOW, and his experiences pretty much mimic my positive experiences with the headset. The SQ is even great to the point where I will listen to music through the headphones when not playing videogames. All in all, perhaps the best headset that I have purchased!

Great USB connect headset.

I was looking around for a good USB connect headset that didn't cost a fortune so I could use it on my PS3. I have to say that the headset itself is comfortable, the sound out of the headset is very nice quality, and from what I have been told people can hear me just fine with it. That's all you can really ask for. The price wasn't to bad compared to a lot of the others I was looking at. Overall I have to say it's well worth the money.

Microsoft - LiveChat LX-3000 Headset: Great Price and Sound

5

I've had the Microsoft - LiveChat LX-3000 Headset for a couple years now, and they still work great.  The sound quality is amazing.  When in video calls it feels as if the person is in the same room.  They are also pretty good at noise cancelling.  I use this for online gaming, video calling, and for music; it works great for everything.  The bass is also really good on it.  The only bad thing is that they are a bit small so it's a tight fit for my ears and after about an hour of use they start to hurt.  They are very easy to set up, all you need to do is connect them to a USB port and the drivers install.  It also has a mute button, which is pretty helpful and has a chat button which open up MSN Messenger.  The microphone is a flexible rubber thing coming out of the right headphone so you can adjust it however you want.  The headset is very durable, mine has come apart a couple times and i had to superglue the microphone back on, but that's because I step on it a lot.  As long as you're careful with this thing you'll have great sound quality and it also comes at a great price.

LiveChat LX-3000... great headphones, not so great mic

3

The Microsoft LiveChat LX-3000 Headset is great for listening to music or watching videos without anyone else having to hear them. The unit is fairly lightweight and the muffs themselves have a quality cup that conforms well around the ears and makes noise beyond them practically non-existant. Sounds come in crystal clear and while not advertised as rugged, I have not treated mine with much care and over two years later, music still sounds great. The cord has a great length, close to eight feet. The "remote" attached to the cord also works great for adjusting music lengths without messing with Windows. However, the microphone has never worked well. Every attempt I've made to use it has resulted in a noticable hum. I've attempted using the headphones as far away as possible from the computer itself with no better result. To counter this, my cheaper XBox headset does not have this issue, even though I sit in the same seat. There's an option on the "remote" that allows you to turn off the mic. This is probably great if you're talking to someone and don't want to let them in on the conversation, but with the mic issues I've had, I can't really comment. My only other complaint is the chat button on the remote is annoying, however, I disabled the LiveChat features on my computer as I have no use for it and so pushing the button does nothing.

Nice Headset

4

I received this headset as a gift, and it lasted me several years. The sound quality is great and I have been told that the sound produced by my microphone is crystal clear. Though the microphone eventually died and the headset started to show wear, there is a lot to like about the build quality and design. I can drop these on the ground without worry, the extra-long cord is extremely convenient, and the USB interface lets me plug this into computers that might not have sound cards (yes, they exist). The volume controls sync with Windows' volume settings, which is a nice touch, and it appears as a separate device, letting me take advantage of the Windows 7 sound device switcher. There are some issues when I try to unplug and reconnect the headset, but nothing that can't be easily resolved with a quick trip to settings. Overall, I recommend these headphones because they are comfortable and get the job done.

Comfortable on head and ears

5

I have been using this headset for over a year. This headset has so far been compatible with all the software I have used it with. Skype, Foreign Language lesson software, text to speech and speech to text programs. It is soft around my ears and light on my head. It never squeezes my head but stays on tight. The microphone baffle stays on and works well to cut down stray sounds so the reception of voice is clear. The cord is long enough to allow me to move around and reach for items on my desk as I use the headset. It is labeled clearly left and right so it is put on my head correctly. The volume control is easy to reach on the cord but I usually use the keyboard volume controls. The cord has been stretched and repeatedly wound for storage and has stayed undamaged. I never hear any interferences. The movable joints have stayed sturdy and durable and have not worn or broke unlike some other headphones. It had stayed in very good shape for having been used a lot over the past year.

Great Sound and Comfort

5

I love it this is the second one I have owned after haveing the first one for aprox a year and having it get a broken connection for the mic as I use to use it a lot and put it through a lot so I feel it stood up great for what I put it through. I love the fact it has a in line volume control and mic mute but do not care for the chat button as I dont use MSN or any programs like that to voice chat. But I do use programs like team speak and ventrilo for voice chat for. The volume control is nice while in a game play if you are on a computer with no volume control on the keyboard. It fits great on your head and has good pading on the ear pieces. The nice thing is you cant hear a lot of back ground room noise when wearing thede when you are listening to music or playing games. For being made by Microsoft It has great sound. If I was in the market for another head set I ould try and get another one of these again first before looking at another model or brand. I only choose usb models as with it being usb you dont need to worry about not having a free sound jack as you just need a free usb port and most any one has one or you can add one easily with a usb hub.
