I've been using this mouse for quite some time now, and have carried it around in my bag, pocket, and car. This thing just keeps on going. Other portable mice I've seen fall apart after weeks or days of use. I've gamed, used it for business and my newborn daughter has abused it, my dog has chewed it and it still works great (does have some teeth marks though). Performance It's been beaten up and battered and keeps working and the battery life is great. I use rechargable batteries for it, and end up recharging them about every 4 months. Durability I can't think of a type of punishment an average mouse could stand up to that this one wouldn't laugh at. I'd seriously be willing to let this mouse be Danger Mouse's replacement when he makes the decision to retire. Design Comfortable, small enough to travel with, but large enough for my bear paws. I like that the dongle (RF receiver) can be placed inside for easy storage vs the ones that have a little clip or area for it to sit outside the mouse. I've lost too many dongles that way. Comfort Small for travel, large enough for hardcore large man hands. The grippy texture on the sides is nice and comfortable. I mean it could have a little more grip, you know for when someone has to take it outside in a sleet storm or something crazy.

The mouse is great and affordable. Excellent sensitivity, easy scrolling....it's also very useful and responsive for gaming. My main gripe with it is the battery runs out rather quickly, but that's not a real problem as I'm always using it! It has no bugs and works great with Windows 8!

I really liked the wireless aspect and compact nature of this mouse. I liked the micro toggle so you did not have this 4 inch toggle sticking out of my laptop. I liked that you could store the toggle inside of the mouse, for traveling. I really liked how well the mouse worked...for the 2 months it lasted. After that, it was sporadic. Tere were times when it would stop working, than all of a sudden engage. I tried downloading a fixfeom Microsoft, I tried calling support, I tried getting a new toggle and nothing. In the end, it was not worth paying to ship it to Microsoft to repair... It would be more cost effective to just get a new one. So in the end, I will not be buying a replacement, nor recommend this to anyone.

I have been using this mouse for well over a year. I use it daily and work from home, so there is nothing casual about my use of the mouse or computer. I find that it is very easy to use because it is responsive and can be customize to scroll as desired. Performance I am very pleased with this mouse. The little light on top flashes on/off to indicate that batteries are running low. Microsoft claims you can go 10 months without changing your batteries. This is a major exaggeration, but the batteries last longer than with other mice. I have rechargeable batteries and have probably replaced the batteries on this mouse three times a year. The only way I can think the batteries would last longer is if one remembers to turn the mouse off when not in use - there is a button on the underside to do that - but frankly, I don't. Durability I have thrown this thing inside a laptop bag and tossed it into a suitcase. Dropped it on the floor and has been kicked across the room (on accident) and it has not been damaged in any way. Design I prefer mice with a scroll wheel, so this works fine for me. Comfort It is a nice size for most people's average hands. It is ergonomic and can be used by left and right - handed people alike.

This mouse is not all that great but at the price it is OK. I used this as a mouse to bring with me for my laptop when I need to go out of town and for that this mouse is good. It feels OK in your hand but is a bit too small. It is fairly responsive and works well for a wireless mouse. If you are looking for a good mouse for your home I would look elsewhere, but if you just need something to bring with you when your are out, this would be a good inexpensive choice.

I love this mouse! It works well on many different surfaces. I like that it doesn't jump around, even when I am using something pliable like the couch as my virtual mousepad. The receiver for this mouse is small and self storing when I want to remove it from my laptop. The software plugs and plays so it is easy to use and it installs quickly. Performance Works amazingly well! Durability Has held up well and I have dropped it and carried it around in my packed backpack. Design It is comfortable and easy to use. It is nice and understated in design which works well. Comfort Very comfortable to use!

I bought the Microsoft Wireless Mouse - 4000 - a couple of days ago, when I bought a new laptop. I had an older Microsoft wireless mouse - 15 months old, don't know the model number. The old one was working pretty well, for the most part, but the transceiver was constantly getting knocked around, or jammed, because it stuck out so far, the piece was getting bent. Very pleased with this mouse. The scrolling is much smoother than my older one. I love that the back button is on the side of the mouse - I actually use it now. The old mouse had a small back button on the top, near the wheel, and I never wound up using it, because it wasn't a natural motion. With the 4000, my thumb rests on or near it, and it is much easier/natural to use. The design itself is ergonomic, it is comfortable for my hand, while resting on it or in active use. It is programmable, but I don't require anything outside the norm, so I haven't tested that piece of it. The transceiver is so small - which is a good thing! It barely sticks out of the side of my laptop, so it doesn't get knocked around much, if at all. It also seats much more securely - even brand new, the old one didn't fit as tightly into the USB port. I leave it in all the time, so I don't worry about losing it, and it is small enough that it doesn't impact fitting into a case. The battery cover is easier to remove than the old one as well. It comes in some fun colors - I have the Ruby Pink, which is a deep, metallic red.

I just received this microsoft wireless mouse as a christmas gift from a relative. I was previously using an older model microsoft wireless mouse and really didn't care for it. It worked good but the transciever was long and bulky and was always being bumped and would blink constantly. This microsoft wireless 4000 is so much nicer. The transceiver is tiny so once plugged into the usb port it's barely noticible. Also, because it's so small I don't have to take it out of my laptop when not in use. I like that there's also an on off switch on the underside of the mouse to preserve battery life. My older mouse didn't have that feature so it's a definite plus. The mouse itself is comfortable to use and slides smoothly on almost any surface. There's also a button on the left side that is like a back button, something I find very cool and useful. Despite my dislike for my first microsoft wireless mouse, I'm glad I got this one.

I got so tired of being tied to the wire on my regular mouse, I asked for this for a gift...I LOVE IT! It is so freeing! It works much faster than the regular mouse, and on any surface.  When I went back to use the old one one time, I couldn't believe how much harder it was to maneuver it!! If you have arthritis at all, this is GREAT.
