It works for me

If you are in need of a sewing machine for minor alterations, fixing buttons or small craft experiments, this Michley Lil' Sew Machine is a really great choice. As crazy as it sounds, I enjoy doing sewing crafts with my kids. This particular machine is smaller with a much lighter weight - which makes it more manuverable and simple to manage. It's also highly less expensive than the bigger more bulky models. It came with a foot pedal which I've tried several times but to be honest, I prefer to operate it by using the hand switch, it's just easier for me and seems to provide increased control and it cuts down on accidental double stitching. The bobbin is at the top and can be popped right in so the threading is not such a chore. The machine also has an automated rewind function so it's ultimately convenient and very simple to use. This machine can be easily operated by anyone - even a sewing beginner so it's also really great for smaller craft projects with adolescents who are unfamiliar with the general operation of a sewing machine. It didn't come with patterns but there are plenty of sites online that offer them free of charge. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Stitch Performance Use hand switch to minimize mistakes or double stitching and increased control.

Michley Lil' Sew & Sew Sewing Machine - Great Starter Machine

5

I bought my daughter a Michley Lil' Sew & Sew Sewing Machine for Christmas, and she absolutely loves it. She has used it to make pillows, blankets, and clothing for dolls and many other projects. These machines are quite small and light, but they get small jobs done. If you will be sewing through very thick fabric or through many layers at a time, you would probably need something different. Having sewn for many years and used most expensive machines, I can certainly tell a difference. However, for simple, small projects, this is really all you need. The Lil' Sew & Sew sewing machines are very affordable, which is perfect if you are buying it for someone who is just starting to sew and perhaps not quite sure that they will stick with it. It seems much safer for a beginner than a bigger sewing machine would be, because it is not as fast or powerful. We have had issues with the string getting stuck a few times, but it was nothing we couldn't fix relatively quickly. All in all, this is a good starter machine, at a great price.

If you're looking to really sew... I'd look elsewhere.

I bought this while visiting my grandma just to have a simple machine to sew a few tabs made of ribbon to the tops of some curtains that she had. I wasn't expecting it to sew heirloom quality seams, but a seam that held together and was smooth would have been nice. I initially couldn't get the thread to stop knotting. I tried rethreading, but that didn't seem to help. After playing with it for a little while I was able to get it to sew a nice flat seam, but only through one layer of fabric. After a little more toying with it I was finally able to get it to stitch the ribbon tabs to the tops of the curtains, but after the first few minutes of them hanging the tabs pulled away from the curtains. I thought that maybe it was just that my expectations were too high. I left this with my cousin, but she couldn't get it to do as much as I did! Overall, if you want something for anything other than to tack up a hem or something, I would look for a different machine. Stitch Performance I couldn't get the tension right. It was always either too loose or tight and knotted. Ease of Use It was simple enough to set up. Fabric Handling I never could figure out what the ideal fabric was to use with this machine.

Delightful Sewing Machine

If somebody needs a versatile, but basic functionality little sewing machine, this one is way to go! It has 2 speed cycles, that you could conveniently alternate, if need would be. Plus, this sewing machine is compact enough to take it with you anywhere you would like to take it. It's a very effective, reliable little machine, I assure you.

My Favorite Sewing Machine

5

As a novice to sewing, I was initially intimidated by the thought of purchasing a sewing machine but this is by far, the best purchase I have ever made. The two speeds are perfectly coordinated for a novice to an experienced sewer. It lasts for years on end, and creates great apparel. You can sew for hours on end on a daily basis without a stitch of a problem, no pun intended! This is super affordable, long lasting and is a very pretty structure. It is ergonomically shaped and that makes for long hours of sewing a breeze and friendly to the hands and arms. I plan on keeping this in my family for years to come as an heirloom. I love it, I love it!

Mini Sewing Machine

This mini sewing machine is good for small jobs like hemming your sweat pants or t-shirts. This sewing machine will struggle to do thicker fabric like denim jeans. However, it came with a 100-piece sewing kit that included many bobbins of thread, a lot of regular sewing needles, scissors, thimble, measuring tape, and foot pedal. The machine uses 4xAAA batteries which is meant to make it portable but it could also waste a lot of batteries. To fix this, the machine also has a 6 volt AC plug to connect your wall outlet. The adapter is not included so you will need to find an appropriate one that fits. The threading of the machine is quite tricky but once you understand how to do it, it becomes easier. Sometimes the machine will not stitch properly and will tangle up forcing you to start over. I don't know why this happens but you will need to be careful. The stitches that this machine produces is only a straight stich but should hold if you manage to lock it in.

This is a great all around product. If you are looking for a great value on a well known and trusted brand then this one is it. All the functions are easy to use and the product is built to last years and years of use. I have shopped around for this item and other brands do not have the high quality that this item has.  Most competitors items are built with cheap parts and are made to only last a year or so which forces you to buy a new one to replace it. Why would you ever buy an inferior model than this one knowing that it will ave to be replaced down the line? The answer is don't!!! With this item you are purchasing the best that is out there and there will be no need to replace it soon because it will last a lifetime. Before you think about buying a cheaper model than this one consider the life expectancy of the item you are purchasing and are you willing to replace it with another cheap one once it does break or fail.

wouldnt use it to replace my singer

I bought this because I needed something cheap for at college to hem things when I needed them, that couldnt take up too much space. The machine was tempermental and the thread would  snap every so often, and the stitches were looses. But I played around with the tension and was able to get a decent stitch. You just have to adjust the tension depending on what type of material you are using. Overall, it is good for small things, like hemming or repairs, but is definitely not a replacement for a singer. The needle's not very sturdy, so I wouldn't use it for thick fabrics like denim. And the stitch isn't very tight.

Michley Lil' Sew Mechanical Sewing Machine

The unit provides a top drop-in bobbin system for easy threading, automatic thread rewind, and forward and reverse sewing options. Over-sized buttons turn the machine on and off, plus allow for selecting from a low or high speed setting. Choose either the hand switch or the included pedal to start it. The unit makes a nice gift for any craft enthusiast, novice or on-the-go sewer, or college student with an eye for fashion. Other highlights include the ability to sew sleeves, adjustable stitch width, a built-in sewing light to illuminate the working area, and a drawer for storing some of the smaller accessories. Two thread spools, two metal bobbins, one needle, and a threader come included, as well as a thread bag for extra thread, a foot pendal, and an AC adaptor. Lightweight at just 2-1/5 pounds, this small sewing machine uses DC 6-volt power. I bought one of these for my daughter, she loves it the only thing she dose not like about it as you can not run it on batterys.
