On the rare Florida weekend when we have a couple of gray wet days and our daughter suddenly finds "I have nothing to do!", Michael's Crafts is the place we head.

Can you imagine that in this day and age a kid having nothing to do?  My daughter owns virtually every electronic device and game on the market. ...

I was in our local Michael's, an arts and crafts store.  All I wanted was replacement blades for an exacto knife.  Not a hard item to find, right?  Wrong!  Up and down the aisles I went.  Then, I thought, maybe a clerk would help me.  Wrong again.  Finding a clerk was harder than finding the blades. ... review »

Michaels kind of went down the drain as far as the quality and up keep of their stores in the last 5-7 years. The products I wanted for jewelry making woud rarely be in stock and when I find materials I favored, they'd discontinue them! I decided to switch to JoAnn's for about 2 years.

Last weekend, I happened to pick up a Sunday paper with a Michaels ad that showed sales on jewelry supplies and had a 40% off coupon in it; so I decided to take a trip to one! WOW! What a change in their store! The layout is WAY BETTER (but copied from JoAnn's!)!! However, they cut back on their findings,...

Here's a letter I sent to Michaels on Monday, March 3.  I received their canned response.

Dear Customer Service,

I have been a very loyal customer to your store for more than 3 years.  Three years may not be a long time span in your master plan, but let me explain further.  Michaels was never anything to me but a ‘craft' store and I don't do crafts.  However, you did provide something that was very interesting to me - a Bob Ross wet-on-wet paint class.   The Lynchburg, VA store provided 2 of...

I am revieweing the Michales arts & crafts store in Parker Colorado. Specifically the frameing department.  My wife and I have both been into the Parker Colorado store numberious times to see about custom framing.  I will not go into alot of detail, but every time we have gone in, both clerks working their suggested that we go somewhere else to get our framing done.  In the first instance it was a younger girl, who had just returned from a two hour lunch, and was running late.  The second time I asked an older women working there how much it would cost to put a backing on a picture.  She... review »

I love Michaels! One time I did get upset with them as I lived over 50 miles away and used to spend $100 a week. So when they started putting coupons for 40% off one product of your choice almost weekly in the Sunday paper I got upset. The reason was is they only put it in the paper in certain papers, and I felt if I was spending all this money why shouldn't I be able to get some discounts. They have the best coupons out of all 4 different craft stores in area.

Some of the cashiers would scan the store copy of the coupon but some said they couldn't do it. So I wrote to the corporate office and they...

I love to scrapbook and I like some of the other kits that these types of stores carry. But I will go out of my way to go to AC Moore even if Michaels is closer. In Michaels I got bad service, the store was dirty and disorganized and they had a very small selection. My mom who cross stiches also will not go to Michaels.

former michaels employee. as an employee i was stretched between the register and the sales floor, trying to do what the manager says and trying to help the customers. i would rather help the customer. i remember when classes were cancelled indefinitely.  i remember unhappy customers.  i am slow but patient with customers, questions, details, but too slow for customers in a rush. if the employees aren't happy, theres something messed up in the management. i got a bladder infection from standing at the registers too long and puting off going to the...

The cake decorating class that is given at the Micheals Arts and Craft Store is the best. I have taken all of the classes given and have advanced myself since.

By far I am not a baker but I love to decorate, create and demonstrate. :)

The classes are not expensive. You pay for the class and purchase your supplies. Your not even forced to buy the supplies from their store. Its nice to have a new hobby,

Take a look at some of my creations

I am neither artsy nor craftsy, but every time I wander into Michaels Arts and Crafts Store, I get a bazillion ideas for our country home. There are such great sale finds in the store as well. It's an every year holiday shopping stop for me.

Michaels is great with the variety of products they carry. Their prices tend to be lower than other craft stores in my area. The only problem in the wide variety is that I occasionally find myself searching out specialty stores for just the right item or quality items. For example, in the calligraphy section there is a wide variety, but all the pens are cheep. So, it's great for a beginner, but I just buy my ink from them and my nibs at the art shop.

On the rare occasions you can find a worker not piled up with customers at the checkout, you'll be lucky if they can answer even a basic question....

This store is awesome. I know it is hard to believe that they would have party things here but they do! They carry a lot of the Wilton items and they also have a great new section with things for kids that just cost a dollar. How can it get any better than that? Last year for my daughters birthday I had the girls paint a little wooden jewelry box and filled it with bracelets that I had gotten on clearance at Michaels. It was the greatest thing the girls loved it and it didnt cost me big bucks! They have just remodeled my store and it is so much easier to navigate. I love the huge scrapbook section...

The sales at Michaels are always good. I also enjoy the wide variety of classes. Each store is different and some are better than others with customer servide. The one closest to my house has the best customer service in our area. It seems more of a store manager issue rather than a corporate one.

As for the classes, they are far better than JoAnn's and they are rarely cancelled as they are at JoAnns.

Michaels Crafts is a great craft store.  I like the wide variety of arts and crafts available.  The prices vary greatly so even on a limited budget you can get some items.  The store is set up by types of crafts so you can go to a certain section and find items for a certain type of craft in a set area.  There are always sales going on that can save you lots of money. I enjoy browsing the aisles to see what is new and to see if there is a craft that maybe I would like to try to see if I would like it.

The ads come in the newspaper or in the mail, so you are able to see the print ads at home...
