In the middle of Michael Jackson's This Is It movie Allen leaned over to me and said that a little of Michael Jackson goes a long way and a lot of Michael Jackson is too much and this movie proved his point. I was never a fan of Jackson's nor did I see 'genuis' in his music though I must admit he is a smooth dancer, though I can do without the crotch grabbing--and I am a gay man!! LOL The movie does show that he was a hard worker and was really going to present himself in a huge show that must have cost a mint. He had very masculine looking male dancers and pretty female dancers surrounding him along with singers who know how to sing and the best of musicians. It was also obvious that everyone on the staff loved and/or admired him. Though he sings most of his hits he was holding back on his vocals as he was saving his voice as he mentions a few times. He really seems to enjoy the dancing aspects of his performance but doesn't project the charisma he must have had, I assume, to hold the attention of his audience. Jackson doesn't look ill, and though thin and possibly frail, he shows a lot of lasting energy. There is a lot of work that had gone into the concert presentation and it shows on the screen but very little of Michael the person is. The movie will do nothing but reinforce his fans and make a lot of money, hopefully of which some will filter down to his kids, and will probably break records in DVD and merchandise sales. I can also see this film nominated for an Oscar in the documentary category but compared to "Every Little Step" this is a pale effort. With all respect when I see Michael Jackson I see a weird, sad, child molesting person, not the musical genius that people claim he is and this film doesn't show me the latter at all.

In response to MikeMaroon's comment from Nov 5, 2009 at 2:08PM:

I think some of it may be a generation gap--I don't know too many 70 year olds who like him or his music or it might be something in my brain--I didn't like Marilyn Monroe or Liberace and didn't feel a thing when they died! Or it might be THAT drummer!!!! :O)

I can always count on you to be the guy marching to the beat of a different drummer and when I want a completely different perspective, I read your reviews. I mean that as a compliment. Nice job!

I think you wrote a fair assessment as you saw it not being a fan and looking at him personally. When I went, I wanted to see if he still had the musical chops he once had and if he could still dance and I saw he could do both just fine. The videos will be great if they ever come out. I gave you a helpful vote although I don't agree with your opinion completely. I respect it though. (And I also could do without ANY crotch grabbing. lol.)
