What do you get for a friend (or preferably a spouse or roommate) that has everything? How about a subscription to a magazine that you will enjoy too!
That's what I did for my husbands birthday this year. I got him a couple of magazine subscriptions. He is a smart guy that loves random knowledge-- so why not feed that? I did. I gave him some magazines I don't have any interest in (like Mac Addicts for one) and some that I do have interest in: Mental Floss, for example. I had to create a balance. But I am definitely partial (actually love) the Mental Floss subscription.
Mental Floss is a fun read filled with all kinds of random facts. Their tag line is "Where knowledge junkies get their fix". Feed your right brain. Nurture your left brain. Satisfy your scatter brain.
Here's a sense of what you get (In this months issue that I am reading now):
1. Chaos Theory-- in your washing machine
2. Charlie Brown on Existentialism
3. How to fake your way through a conversation about evolution.... "Dont forget to name drop!"
4. Body World's article-- how the process works
5. What kind of shoes does the Pope wear? White doc martins. Who knew!
If you want to feel smart again, go for it. It's cheap, fun and a good mental break.
