Members Mark Infant Formula with DHA and ARA —

When trying to decide which formula to swich my son to from breast milk at 7 month old I elicited several resources. I am a nurse and and nurse practitioner student. I wanted to make sure my son got the best! So I went to a dinner meeting the the North Texas Pediatric nurse practitioner association that had a speaker from the formula department at Children's Medical center. I expected to hear which formula was "the Best". What I learned was that for a healthy, full term infant of course Breast is best, but pretty much all of the infant formulas are equally as good. Because of the Infant formula act any formula with the designation of infant formula is strictly regulated. It cannot say infant formula if it does not meet these high standers. She said that the store brands are just as good as the name brands. I went to my pediatrician and she used the "sams brand" by name and said it was a good product. We bought this and spend $10 per week on formula. I actually liked the consistency better than enfamil. I think it had a better taste too (yes I tasted it). Enfamil seemed to bubble up and the Member's mark did not. The people who's children had a reaction should not use that to reflect on the product. That was an individual allergy or intolerance, not a problem with the formula.
