Because of budget, I really tried to avoid getting any more wipes for some time--I bought cases--about 12 of them!--of some very inexpensive wipes a couple of years ago that I still have 4+ cases of. ! But the diaper-wearer of the hour tended to get rashes pretty easily, unil I found that if I avoided the cheapo--and old!--wipes, he "rashed" significantly less.
Since I already more than pay for my Sam's Club membership every year by the savings I get on diapers--and because I think they were even cheaper than the Walmart store brand wipes--I checked out Member's Mark wipes. (Not to mention that I get about the same diaper clean-up use out of one of any normal wipe than I get out of two of the cheapos). The convenience of the pop-up system is somewhat addictive for me (note my screen name...!), not to mention MUCH easier for my husband, who has limited use of his right arm and hand. I had to remove and separate the cheapos to avoid going crazy or using mass amounts while wrestling a wiggling poopster. (OK, I still went a little crazy w/ the wiggler, but much less so!) I still try to economize by ripping the Member's Mark ones in half and storing extras between poopy diapers in a plastic storage box (I have very small hands, so this works well for me.) So I still choose to put in some prep time to save money (amazing how much longer they last when you use 1/2 as many per wipe of the rear!), usually, but the pop-up function is still very nice when in a hurry or on the go.
These are significantly wetter than the Kirkland kind from Costco, and are sturdy w/o being difficult to rip (a plus for my style of ripping them in half and thus for my budget). There are some cons to this--towards the end of the pack, they sometimes almost drip, they're so wet, which can be annoying and perhaps not as gentle on the diaper-ee. But I think I've only have them go dry when I have a 1/4- to less-than-1/4 full pack stored in a diaper bag or somewhere else not regularly used for an extended period of time.
Obviously, (for this child, anyway) I'm sold. It will hurt my convenience nerves a lot if baby three responds well to the remaining four cases of cheapos. I'm not sure I'll even try my cheapos again for #3 until I hit the "used-to-one-more" phase--if I ever hit that phase...! :) Member's Mark are a great value, to say the least.
