I'm sure there are many people who drink coffee all the time and are happy using the cheapest coffee filters available. However, a good coffee filter can make a good cup of coffee a great cup. That's why I use Melitta Coffee Filters.
These coffee filters are better in quality than the cheapest brands. What are some of the differences? Melitta filters offer the following features:
The thicker paper in these filters will hold the coffee in place. The top will not fall over and mess-up the brewing process. And the microfine little holes in the filter do a better job of letting the brewed coffee flow through.
Recently I have purchased the Melitta Natural Brown Coffee Filters. These filters are unbleached so better for the environment. I'm not sure how much difference a coffee filter makes in the larger scheme of things, but every little bit helps!
I use #2 size cone-shaped Melitta Coffee Filters for my 1-2 cup coffeemaker. They also sell basket-shaped and pod-shaped coffee filters along with pouches for loose tea brewing. And if you are interested in history, a German housewife named Melitta Bentz invented the coffee filter just over 100 years ago, and today her name is world famous.
Based on my experience Melitta Coffee Filters cost a little more - about $2.25 for 40 filters - but offer a better coffee-brewing experience than the cheap filters. If you can afford the extra cost and are a serious coffee drinker, I recommend Melitta filters for you home-brewing experiences.
