Melitta Mill & Brew makes it easy to grind your own coffee

4

I've always disliked grinding coffee myself. Never mind that it tastes better, and that it is far fresher. I hated cleaning the grinder and actually pouring the ground coffee from the grinder to the coffee machine. With the Melitta Mill & Brew, the grinding takes place right in the machine! Plus, it's super-easy to clean. Genius! The coffee is far better than the pre-ground, and without all the mess. The only drawback to this particular coffeemaker is that it seems to have a design flaw. We've had two of this model, and with each one, the lid to the grinding component has broken its latch within a few months. No matter, it works just fine (sometimes we have to hold down the lid on the grinder so that it starts), but it would be nice if that part of the machine were more stable. Overall, though, highly recommended! Brew Performance A really nice cup of coffee every time. Ease of Cleaning Very easy to take apart and clean each time. Ease of Use So easy, no mess! Design As mentioned above, a tiny design flaw in the lid of the grinder. But overall, a nice looking machine. Durability As mentioned above, the lid hinge for the grinder seems to break on these. But it works fine.

Freshly ground coffee every morning!

4

Like several other things I own, I've had this thing for a while. Got tired of it and gave it away and then wound up missing it and eventually repurchasing it. I like that I get freshly ground coffee every morning. It's got enough settings to please me and the programmable feature is a nifty plus. Back when I needed to, I could add coffee beans the night before and have it go off automatically in the morning, grind the coffee beans and brew the coffee before I got out of bed. Perhaps the only thing that bothers me about this gizmo is that it has a lot of plastic parts that are repeatedly exposed to hot water which then ends up in my cup. I like to avoid plastic when possible and I'd much prefer if all the parts were stainless steel. Oh well. Take a tip from me and add the following items to your beans before grinding: fresh cut ginger, a slice of serano pepper, whole cloves, ground or whole cinammon, ground cardamom, ground nutmeg, and a dash of allspice. A half handul of nuts (I use a mixture of almonds, sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds). Adjust amounts to taste. You'll never go back to drinking plain coffee :o)

Melitta 10 cup Mill and Brew Coffeemaker is a great invention!!!

Our Melitta ten cup Mill and Brew Coffemaker not only grinds whole bean coffee in the same container that it brews, reducing the need for coffee filters, it also can brew tea, too! We like to purchase whole bean coffee since it retains it's freshness better. This coffee maker is such a wonderful invention with several features giving you an option for fine grounds or course, depending upon your taste preference, and even includes a clock that you can set to brew a nice cup of coffee anytime of the day! Our particular model did have a glitch when it comes to the buttons. The mill button and on button seem to be reversed. Once we figured out he glitch, every thing else runs very well. I especially love the fact that we save money on paper filters and it's helps the tree impact, too. The removable filter section is easy to clean. We just give it a good power spray wash inside & out, then pop it back in the coffee maker. Since I also love loose leafed tea, this particular feature makes a great addition to brewing a nice cup of herbal tea, as well. I just don't use the grind part and add the tea leaves, bark, stems, or flowers directly into the filter. Then brew as I would for coffee. This works rather well. My family, and I, are so impressed with this coffeemaker, that we feel privileged to own one and grateful that it was invented. Kudos to the Creator!!!

This coffee maker does make coffee, but has many design flaws.

I  originally got this coffee maker because it had an insulated pot with no heating element underneath to burn the coffee. The insulated pot is supposed to keep the coffee hot for a long time, and it does for the most part, although, there are more problems than the pot is worth. The water reservoirs has a hole at the top which is supposed to be a handle because you take the reservoir off the unit to fill it. Water splashes out this hole and gets messy. The lid of the coffee pot and also, the filter chamber sometimes get clogged with coffee grounds while it is brewing, causing all of the brewed coffee to spill out onto the counter. Also, the pot is stainless steel and plastic. When washed, the pot gets water between these 2 parts and gets caught there. When you are pouring your coffee from it, the soapy water leaks out onto the counter. I would not recommend this coffee maker. It mainly makes a mess.

I used to be terrible at making coffee.  When we had company, I used to have my husband do it.  But a few years ago, my parents gave us the Melitta Mill & Brew as a gift, and now even I can make a great cup of coffee!   The Melitta Mill & Brew is easy to use.  It takes either whole-bean or ground coffee, and it works beautifully.  My only problem with it is that on our first one, one of the plastic components on top broke and we had to manually hold the top down or else it wouldn't grind.  We've had our current one for two years and so far have not had this problem. I'd highly recommend this system for people who like to grind their own coffee but are tired of using (and cleaning!) a separate coffee grinder each time.  It's perfect for brewing a single cup or a whole pot.  It's made my life, and my marriage, easier!

A coffee lover must have!

I bought my first Melitta Mill & Brew coffee maker last year and I was hooked.  There is nothing better than a cup of coffee from freshly ground coffee beans.  This coffee maker is very simple to use and easy to clean.  My daughter broke our caraffe when she was washing dishes earlier this year and I had to order a whole new coffee pot because I couldn't get the caraffe online :(.  I admit, that's a drawback, but I wouldn't trade my coffee pot for any other.  Although I have not purchased another grind and brew model, I understand that other models are difficult to clean, whereas the Melitta is not.  This particular model may be difficult to find.  I believe Melitta may be discontinuing the Mill & Brew, which is a shame.   If you are able to find one, I would snatch it up.  I don't think you will find another model that works as well or cleans up as easily.  If you love coffee like I do, you will find that buying the whole beans and grinding them fresh daily makes a world of difference in the taste.

The Mill and Brew makes great coffee every single time.

The Mill & Brew by Melitta is a fantastic find.  SInce it grinds the beans just before brewing, the coffee is very fresh.  It also has the option of brewing coffee from pre-ground beans. It's easy to use and clean, and I've had mine for 2+ years without a problem.  Everyone always compliments me on my coffee!
