I have purchased Melissa and Doug educational toys and find them very educational.  A bit pricey.  When I see the name on the side of the wood box or package, I know it is an educational toy of great quality.  Two years ago I purchased their vegetables and fruit with Velcro to attach the pieces together, and it is still one of my children's favorites in their play kitchen.  They use the cutting board and wooden knife and cut in each groove which separates the Velcro to make a cutting noise.  I have other wooden toys and puzzles by Melissa and Doug and the children enjoy each item.
