Washing is just not enough to keep your ride looking good and protecting the finish. I used to use Turtle Wax on everything I owned but decided to give this Meguiar's Gold Class a try. They are comparable in price so I needed to see whether it was as good as all the hype I had heard about it.

Meguiar's Gold Class Liquid Wax - 16 oz.

The bottle is black and fits easy in the hand wit a flip open nozzle that dispenses the wax onto your applicator. Speaking of which the bottle comes in a box with an applicator made of soft sponge like material. Shake well before using and then squeeze a little onto the pad. It kind of looks like hand lotion and spreads just as easily too. I have the V Star emblems on my gas tank but even over those I can get the wax on and off with relative ease.

I have 2 side covers, gas tank, front and rear fenders that need waxed the chrome gets chrome polish. I took me about 30 minutes to apply and wipe off the wax so it is not that long of a process. This wax contains Carnauba and Polymer protecting agents that help protect against UV damage and give it a real nice shine.

Another important feature of this Meguiar's Gold Class Wax is that it is safe for Clear Coat Finishes. In this day and age Clear Coat is widely used and it helps protect your paint. So using a product that is safe for them is a WIN/WIN situation. You will have a nice sparkle for years to come.

Bottom Line

In comparing this Meguiar's to Turtle Wax I find both are easy on and easy off, price wise they also compare even. I feel the difference is that Meguiar's is easier around emblems so I have to give the edge to Meguiar's there. Meguiar's seems to be a bit thinner and also dries to a lighter consistency, that makes it easier to wipe off from around emblems. The resulting shine is the same as Turtle Wax.

I like the shine and living on a dirt road I notice the dust just blows off once I get going down the road. In my opinion Meguiar's is better over all so I will stick with it from now on. With all the other great Meguiar's products my V Star will continue to look new and shine like a diamond for many years to come!

the good point is now the helpful review button....same thing but worded different to say it is a good review without making people think they have to agree with what the review says. Did I make sense? ;) Ron

The lights being in with the speedo was another thing that drew me too it. Well I am off for a ride, I need to test out my new drivers backrest and see how it feels! ;)

GeorgeChabot wrote on Apr 22, 2008 at 1:36PM

I like Meguiars, too. BTW, that speedo on the V Star pic on your profile really brings back the pleasant memories of many hours of riding. Love how the idjit lights are in the speedo. The Harley lights are in a line under the speedo on my bike.
