Meet the Spartans Review Summary

Meet the Spartans is not recommended by most of Viewpoints reviewers.  This spoof of the film 300 had movie lovers walking out of the theater saying "I like almost every movie - but this was really awful."  There is at least one reviewer who found the movie funny because "it's current and it's good for a few laughs."  Even with that small amount of support, you can't help but be leery of this film with reviewers sending out warnings like "even if some one pays you, please don't watch this movie!"

Meet the Spartans is a spoof of the movie 300 as well as other pop culture tidbits (American Idol, Brittany Spears's breakdown, Happy Feet, Stomp the Yard, etc).   It's made by the same people as Scary Movie, Epic Movie, etc and you can expect the same kind of movie.  It's current and it's good for a few laughs.  It's not a film to be taken seriously.  It's not the kind of classic that ten years from now you're going to be like "You haven't seen Meet the Spartans?  Seriously?  You need to go out and rent it right now.".  It's never going to be on any… read full review »

This movie is not funny, it is disgusting and offensive.  I was glad to see people walking out with their pre-teens.  I like almost every movie -  but this was really awful.  I don't know who thought this was a good idea, but the humor was repetitive and stupid.  After 15 minutes, the comedy was spent.  DO NOT let your children see… read full review »

This will be short and simple.  I saw this movie in a theater filled with teenagers.  Some of them laughed.  I know I didn't.  The movie is mostly predictable, and what couldn't be predicted, I wish didn't happen.  I forgot the funniest part of the movie, if that says enough.  This movie doesn't even qualify for sophomoric humor at best. The homosexual references were so overplayed it was sickening.  An hour and a half of my life gone, with nothing to show for it except a ticket… read full review »

I went to see this move with some friends for my birthday.... woooow... I don't think i have ever seen anything worse than this mess. The plotline is ripped shamelessly off of 300 (At least Scary movie attempted to create a more or less original plotline) The poor attempts at comedy are random and consist almost entirely of pop-culture refferences. The writers of this movie were clearly low on jokes as they replayed jokes that they must've thought were funny over and over and over and over again. —… read full review »

how many spoof movies do we need? In my opinion, the very first scary movie was funny because it was what seemed like an original at the time. Since then, all of these horrible attempts at spoofs have come out and none of them have been any good. Can people not just come up with their own plots and characters? Spend our time and money on something with a little more substance,… read full review »

I DIDN'T ENJOY WATCHING THIS MOVIE. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE. WHEN I WAS ASKED IF I ENJOYED IT, I SAID IT WAS A WASTE OF MONEY AND A WASTE OF MY TIME. IF SOMEONE IS INTO TOTALLY STUPID MOVIES, THEN GO SEE THIS. THE ONLY GOOD PART OF THE ENTIRE MOVIE WAS KEVIN SORBO IN LEATHER. WOMEN WILL FIND THIS THE BEST… read full review »

I thought even though this movie was made to use other movie ideas.. it was still a little uncreative. Mostly it was not even very funny to me. It wasn't a completely terrible movie, but it isn't something I think I will watch again anytime soon. Also, it was very very short.. only about an hour long I… read full review »

The commercials made it look much better than it really was.  There was some humor, and it had it's good moments, but all in all, it was not worth going to the theater.  Wait for this one to come out and watch it at home where it is… read full review »
