Meet the Robinsons Review Summary

"Meeting the Robinsons was a true delight!" Viewpoints moviegoers are in agreement about this animated film from Disney about a 13-year-old inventor who searches for his birth family. The emotional story was touching to many. Yet, it's the positive messages that have reviewers making comparisons to another animated film, Happy Feet. Every young viewer should see an inspirational film like Meet the Robinsons that shows the importance of family and never giving up, along with the message that it's okay to be different or quirky. Along with the positive messages and pull at the emotions, Meet the Robinsons uses Disney's standard humor, making it a "great movie for the whole family."

The Case

I've got five brothers and sisters, and they're all under the age of ten.  Mostly because of them, I feel that I'm extremely well-versed in the wide world of children's movies.  I've seen a LOT of them!  But, ironically...

I watched this movie a while back, it wasn't that great. It was too slow and not what I expected. All the funniest parts were ofcourse in the previews then their was nothing left. It just wasn't that funny and the plot wasn't that original. It was like a remade jetsons.

From the first time I viewed the trailer I was excited to see this film from Disney, "Meet the Robinsons".  It turns out that I was not disappointed either.

The film starts off with a young 13 year-old Lewis, an egghead wannabe inventor who lives in an orphanage and shares a room with his best friend Michael, (or as he's better known as -Goob).  In-between his inventive inventions he is interviewing for potential parents to take him into his new family.

At a science-fair at school, he is encountered by a strange new character Wilbur who claims to have a time machine.   Lewis agrees to travel...

Just having rented this for my three year old son, watching it from beginning to end made me remember what a great movie and what a great message this particular Disney Pixar gem really has.
The whole film holds the saying "Keep looking forward" and it is a statement that I, personally, think cannot be said enough.
Not only was the film funny, exciting, and enlightening - The album and soundtrack is an extra plus - showcasing artists like Rob Thomas and All American Rejects.

I tried to analyze why exactly it didn't become a a big time money maker like "Finding Nemo" or  "Toy Story." My theory was,...

This movie was great on so many levels. There were many things that touched close to home with me and my family. I would sit and watch this movie over and over and at the end I would cry every time! (in this movie the tears at the end is a good thing!)

I loved that they referenced Steamboat Willie and then made the movie in honour of Walt Disney. That was very touching. Then there was the topic of adoption, I have several family members that were adopted and so this hit home for me. And then we can't forget there was the one thing that as kids everyone dreams about...going to the future and/or...

We received this movie on DVD as a gift, and it did not disappoint! :) Lewis is an orphan, whose mother left him on a doorstep when he was an infant. Just before he turns 13, he decides to search her out. When the Bowler Hat Guy ruins his invention, he goes into the future with Wilbur Robinson, who shows him a fantastic and fun future. Lewis learns he is the key to this future, and Keeps Moving Forward to make it a realization.
My favorite themes from this movie are family, never giving up, and humor! They Robinsons are absolutely crazy, and I adore them! I love the older references, too, like "Will"...

Meet the Robinson's is a great film for all children to view, preferably with their parents or other adult(s). In the beginning of the movie, I was a little confused, as was my 19 year old daughter, as it tends to skip around a lot, but eventually the story line becomes clear. There are so many positive messages: including, the positive aspects of being adopted, the hard decision the birth mother made (I am adopted myself), failure does not mean stop trying, rather "keep moving forward," which is an oft used saying later in the film, etc.

The movie had funny parts, a few mildly scary ones and was...

Smaller children may have trouble grasping the future vs present plot, but generally they should understand the idea of what you do now can effect people in ways you may not know about and change what happens in the future, so you should always consider how your actions will effect others around you. "Meet the Robinsons" action and futuristic scenes will keep the attention of even the most rambuncious child, and adults will love the humor and appreciate the lessons that they are trying to teach their children in real life that are reflected in the movie. A great conversation starter for parents... review »

We rented this movie and have already watched it twice in three days!  Our six year old loves to "invent" things so this movie could not be more perfect.  I loved the quirky family- I think that it was a great way to show that every family has it's own beat.  Every family doesn't just have  "regular" folks.  The main lesson about never giving up is a huge thing for kids to learn and I think it was a great theme to the movie.  We also realy like how it taught that you can learn so mush from failures, maybe even more than from your successes.

Meet the Robinsons is a perfect movie for people of all ages.  It has a great message and is full of comedy.  I would recommend this to anyone.  My husband doesn't like to watch animated movies, but loves this movie also!  We both break out in laughter throughout the entire movie.  This movie does a great job of showing that anyone can be happy and loved, you might have a "crazy" family, but in the end, it's the love you have for each other that matters!

Meet the Robinson's is a great movie for the whole family!  The main character Lewis is an orphan looking for the family he never had. His journey takes him all the way into the future. This movie is so great because it is silly, fun that kids love.  My niece laughed hysterically at the part with the dinosaur!  The story affirms the importance of family, of following your dreams, and of perseverance.  I would recommend this movie to young and old alike!

We took my very active young children to see this in theaters. We all enjoyed it and the kids watched the entire thing! They loved the dinosaur and the movie was entertaining for everyone in the family! We purchased the dvd when it came out and still enjoy the movie. The movie was done very well and although the plot could be confusing, it really was not that difficult to follow. I highly recommend this movie to the young and old!

A great movie.  I took my four year old to the movie in the theater and she sat for the whole movie.  It has a great theme about not giving up and that if you don't try you can't succeed.  The future world is very colorful and keeps younger kids interested.  Adult can enjoy thinking about the characters and members of thier own family.  We now have the DVD and my daughter loves to watch it about once a week.
