I have been a subscriber to this company for 12 years.  I am totally satisfied with the service provided.  Even though I only have the extended basic service, I have a wonderful variety of programs to watch.  Whenever there has been a problem, which is rare, I have received polite and cheerful service...

   For 6 months, I had one of their "so called specials" where I had high speed Internet and cable.

  The offer was supposed to run a year, but I canceled early.

  When they got to my home, 4 hours late, they refused to install cable in my 2 bedrooms.

    I should have told them to go to hell and comeback when they would install in my 2 bedrooms.

   They billed me 2 times for "movie on demand" that I never ordered.

   The 100+ music channels never worked within the time frame when I was a customer.

  Any complaint about ANY channel not working right was,  "we have our best system analysts...

I stopped subscribing to Mediacom as soon as I had another option.  We live in an area that only has the one cable company - we are at their mercy.  I subscribed to Dish as soon as Mediacoms rates got out of hand.  I never really cared for Mediacom in the first place but had no choice.  Their customer relations people are just awful (on the phone); their actual service people are nice enough but you might wait forever for them to come and fix something.  Prices seemed to go up every other month.  I know it wasn't quite that often but it seemed like it.  I have gotten much better service,... review »

In January, we got the TV, internet and phone package from Mediacom. I specifically asked if the package included channels like BBC America and History International. I was told yes. This was a very reasonable package (or so it seemed).

First of all, it took them TWO WEEKS to come and install it. Secondly, when the guy came to install it, there was one little thing he failed to mention: the package was for one TV to have digital cable and one TV to have ANALOG cable! Analog has no box, it is just plugged in to cable-ready TV's. My TV only had the capacity for 110 channels, so if you weed out all...

First I would NOT recommend this company to anyone outside the Quad City IL area. Lived in QCA for 2 years with their cable and internet service and had nothing but good things to say about the service there. NOW I live in a new area and found their service available so AGAINST ALL MY NEIGHBORS(who have satellite do to their multiple problems with MEDIACOM) I subscribed because of the great service I recieved previously. Now Mediacom is HORRIBLE, they have tried to over charge me twice, the service goes out every other month or so, On demand works but have to mess with it to get it work and can't...

MediaCom is the worst cable service I have ever had! I ordered the VIP package, hardly worth calling VIP. Premium channels never came in clear enouigh to watch. After three months of attempting to have the service repaired I finally gave up! This VIP package also comes with phone and internet service. When my phone went down I was unable to get a service person to my house for more than a week. Pregnant and home alone all day this was very disconcerting. I had to cancel my service. So much for VIP!

Mediacom "Customer Service" is an oxymoron.  Service outages occur in my area every time the wind blows more than 20 mph.  I have had to call more than 10 times in the past month and have never had to wait less than 15 minutes to speak to a human being.  I called 4 different times to get my cable buried but it never happened.  I was told I could not speak to a supervisor.  I never received a response to 2 different emails to "customer service" even though the web page guarantees a response within 24 hours.  The web page is a "black hole" of endless loops to nowhere.  It's nearly impossible...

For the most part I am happy with my cable service.  There are some problems I would like to address.  The first being that I can only have problems fixed 2 days a week because that is the only days they are in my area.  Second, the tv guide station freezes and will stay that way for days and they seem not to know, claim it's not their problem.  I also have my internet service through them and there are days when it just drops off for no reason and they only tell you they will get someone right on it (this is done through a recording).  Most inconvinient if I'm in the middle of a survey.

Knowing that our 12 mo. special was ending in 2 weeks, I called customer service to inquire about what new specials might be available.  I was informed that not only was I not eligible for a new special for 6 months, but that my cable/internet combo would be going up $65 a month!  When I asked the rep to compare my package with an offer that I had received from AT&T, she informed me that she didn't care what AT&T offered.  Needless to say, I am now with AT&T for my internet, and saving $70 a month!  Woohoo!

I have been a customer of Mediacom for years...not by complete choice. They are ok service wise but constant price increases and monthly issues with services such as access to OnDemand content are major negatives in my opinion. Also, the outsourcing of customer service to a company that has rude tactics (when contacting customers. Usually, if you call in you will reach actual Mediacom customer service not this outsourced company) has made things a bit more undesirable.

Seems like once you get out of the 'trial' period, the price just keeps going up.  I tried the three star pack with phone, internet, and cable.  Now it seems like it almost doubled.  Everytime I call it seems like they don't have anything they can do. I'm not impressed at all by their customer service
