I have been going to the Medi weight loss clinic on 54 in Lutz.  I have lost 27 pounds in 7 weeks!  It is taking some work, but I am definitely seeing the results.  It is Doctor monitored, but you can only have 500 calories a day.  You are on appetite suppressants, fat burners, and vitamins.  You need to drink a lot of water, moniter your eating, and excercise.  I have been very pleased with the quick results.  It is pricey though - so you need to be committed to sticking to the program.

Right on! I've lost 30 pounds in 8 weeks, not 8 months, 8 weeks. I feel good and I look good. I signed up to lose 100 pounds and now I know it's possible. This is a great program. Yes, costly, but I've waisted so much more on worthless ventures. This is for me!

Hi, this is second day of my program. I am not taking any suppresents, I have been eating right portions of chicken and egg. But I am using pan spray, onion and water to make the chicken a curry kind ( got it from the lady who took my blood test at Medi). I am full and not feeling hungry at all even with out suppresents. Also I am having coffee with out Milk (the dark coffee) and also tea with out milk. Am I doing it right. I checked the ketosis and I am at the "trace" level. I am worried that I might do something wrong. Unfortunately I strated the program on sunday and the Medi offices are closed on sunday and monday too. Can some one help me in knowing if what I am doing is right? :(

I just made my goal weight here in Texas too. I took five months to loose 35 lbs. I just wanted to get to a healthy BMI so I took the highest in my height. I would like to loose a little more and I will do it at a slower pace if I want. What this diet did for me is give me the option of learning what food to eat to loose and what foods I will have to stay away from not to gain. I have no desire for sweets which is why I gained the weight in the first place. I feel so much better than ever on a diet. The bruising is the only thing that concerns me. I upped my Vitamin C and red meats. I too could not take the appetite suppressants due to it raising my B/P. I never needed them. I took them the first week and felt miserable. I was thrilled not to take them and they always encouraged me not to. Just one less thing I had to deal with coming off when the weight was down. My Medi Weight Loss Center would always take whatever time I needed for me at ever weight in.

In response to JennyBeans comment...maybe you were misinformed or not listening to the counselor. You are only without carbs and on 500 cal WEEK 1. On week 2 you add back in carbs from natural sources such as fruits and veggies + snacks, both of which raise the calores and is the ultimate in healthy (I too am a nurse). This is far from Atkins, which if you had done your research is UNLIMITED calories and UNLIMITED fat grams- Medi focuses on calories of which we should all count for the rest of our lives in order to avoid fattness! I have been with Medi in Fort Worth since they opened mid-August and have gone from 193 to 157 last Thursday. You only stay on a suppresant until the weight is off and if I didn't want the suppressant there was NO PRESSURE to take it; they offered another more natural supplement for appetite control. I have never felt better than I do on the "clean" foods they recommend. And as soon as the weight comes off you are monitored as you add back in dairy and breads- which you should only eat in moderation anyway! Also, the ketosis they put you in is at a moderate level vs. Atkins which keeps you at a High level. Drinking your fluids as they stressed will flush the ketones from your kidneys. Pay attention to the facts before you slam a GREAT program that is helping so many get healthy. So you cannot stick to the diet, you should have talked to the provider for other options instead of just wasting your $500. I love the Medi in Fort Worth and look forward to continuing to feel great and keep losing weight!!!!

In response to Invisible's comment from May 28, 2009 at 3:19PM:

I don 't know why it doesn't seem to be working quickly for you. I went on it April22nd 2008 and lost 44 lbs by June 5th. I walked an hour at night 5 days a week and my skin never looked better. I wasn't tired or hungry. Once I stopped I didn't gain the weight back quickly at all..it was slow. I never did get my portions under control because I am a stress eater and fell into my old habbits about 8 months later. I am up 28 lbs and going back on Medi tomorrow. Oh..I am not one for medicine so I usually only ever took 1 pill a day and first thing in the morning always worked best for me. This diet was amazing for me I was actually able to wear a bikini for the first time in 15 years and look great in it!! I hate the way I feel with this 28 lbs It should take me 4 2weeks to get 22 off. Last time I lost 8.9 the first week, 5 the second, 3 the third and 6 the 4th. The key to this diet is week 1 and not eating fruiyts, veggies or carbs. Week 2 it's heaven whenyou add the fruit.

carolina968 wrote on Sep 27, 2009 at 12:17PM

Today I realized that I have bruises everywhere. I think it is because of a lack of Vitamin C. I also have come down with a cold. I have lost 32 lbs in 5 months. I am sick of the usual foods but it has been working for me. I have about 6 more to loose.

In response to JennyBean's comment from Aug 20, 2009 at 8:58AM:

Not true, you can add carbs once you are in wellness. Just portion what you eat, quit scaring people. You can have some carbs and you will be fine. You won't "gain back all your weight"

JennyBean wrote on Aug 20, 2009 at 8:58AM

One additional comment~ I asked them if I need to stay on this for the rest of my life and they said " oh we put you into a wellness phase" so you will still come in for shots and counseling but not the stimulents. They will wean you off them. (remember they are addictive)

The minute you add any carbs into your diet, you are going to gain back all the weight. Just remember that!

JennyBean wrote on Aug 20, 2009 at 8:54AM

We "joined" the weightloss clinic and have decided not to continue it. It was $250 to start, then it will be $70 + $10 for a B 12 shot. The supplements are all additional after your starter kit. On top of that, if you get constipated, you have to buy yet another supplement so you can go.

We got the shots and took the supplements and stimulants as directed and that night when I got in bed, I could feel my heart pounding in my feet.

As an RN I can tell you that the 500 calorie restriction with NO vegtables is nothing more then the Atkins diet. They want you to go into Ketosis which if you google it, it is dangerous. It can cause kidney damage, liver damage and it puts your blood into an acidic state.

Research what happens to an acidic body. One hint....cancer/disease grows in acidic conditions.

The stimulants are addictive and they make you sign an form saying you are aware of a risk of heart attack and stroke.

We blew $500 and no, we are not going back.

In response to music4rach's comment from Jun 19, 2009 at 9:00AM:

You definitely can do it. I lost over 20 pounds on the program. After awhile you really do stop craving carbs and you feel so much lighter like a detox. I think the program teaches you portion control so when you do go back to eating carbs you will do it in moderation.

LOL - NO chicken wings. I think 3 is 100 calories and thats with no sauce :( nothing like Native New Yorkers wings but there will come the time when u can enjoy them in moderation - I look at this program as I've EATEN my way to this weight - now is the time to ENJOY losing the weight and exercising :o) I walk the mountain 4 nights and the gym 5 days a week - once i got in the routine i'm addicted to working out!!!!! On my fifth day, and according to my home scale I've lost 7 lbs so far! I can't lie though, I still crave my carbs!!!!

Iain1028 wrote on Jul 11, 2009 at 12:29PM

Lost 8.9 pounds in the first week!! Very cool. Get to add snacks today. And a an Apple, oh God an Apple!! Yesterday I forgot to take my 3pm suppresant and I was blind with hunger, I was wondering what was wrong and then I remembered I forgot that pill. Just shows that you cannot do it without that pill.

Iain1028 wrote on Jul 8, 2009 at 8:53PM

I am on day 5 and I have my first weigh in and followup tomorrow. The only problem is I have no energy to exercise. Is this normal, does it get better. I am on 700 calories a day because I am a male. Does anyone have a chicken wing?
Thank you

hello everyone, I am going for my first visit next week but I was wondering if any of you have lost the weight and found it stayed off. MY biggest concern is spending so much money and working so hard and then just gaining it right back... have any of you kept it off? if so do you have any tips on how to do so? thanks!

Its 280 for the intial visit and 70 each week. I have been on it 5 days and lost 6 pounds. The appettite suppressant really helps with the 500 cal a day. You feel a lot better too. I have 60 pounds to lose and this is the 1st time I really feel like I can do it. You really have to follow this NO cheating. Try it.

I am going for my first visit tomorrow and am very nervous. I need to lose at least 25 lbs and scared that I can't do it in a month or so due to the expense. I would love your advice to reassure me that I am spending the money wisely as I have tried everything. Thanks so much, sarunr11

I started this program 5 days ago. I went into ketosis on the second day. This morning I weighed in with a 7.2 pounds loss. I have followed the diet to a T and can't ever remember being on any other diet that has given me this type of weight loss. It works!

ginand02 wrote on Jan 13, 2009 at 10:09AM

this has been such a help. I am going for my 1st appointment this coming Monday. I sooooo hope this will help me lose the 95 pounds that I need. I am so nervous about the 500 cal thing. I have a 6yr old, 1 yr old, and a 2 month old. I just hope 500 cal will not leave me too tired to keep up with the kids. Also, anyone know if it's easy to keep the weight off once you are done losing?

MelissaDmomof3 wrote on Jan 2, 2009 at 2:26PM

Stick with it Giselle (that is my daughter's name too). I did Medi at that same clinic from July 06 through Oct 07 and I lost 80 pounds. We had to move and then I found out I was pregnant so I had to stop the program but just found a Medi Clinic in Orlando and will be going next week to get back on the program. I tried EVERYTHING and Medi was the only thing that worked for me. Good luck and have fun with your new bod.

Hi, Today is my 2nd Day. The 1st one was hard. I have to try to get used to the meds. I am cutting them in half today. I will follow this program to a T. I have tried everything else. I hope I am not as hungry today. I am already to the 2nd color on the Keotose strip. By tomorrow I should be in full Keotose I hope.

You will loose 20 pounds in probably the first month is you follow it! I would ask your gyn. about the appetite suppressants they prescribe. They are safe I am just not sure if they stay in your system and tehy would want you off them well before you try to conceive. I am not an MD so I would ask directly about that!

Be honest with yourself and your journaling - if you eat something write it down :o) I actually had to stop the program because the meds were making my migraines worse. But I lost 30lbs doing it! But you're not cheating anyone but your self if you aren't honest with what you are eating and your calories. Hope that helps.

This is my second week. I found this program because I was looking to get a lap band. My insurance requires a Dr supervised program 1st. It has been 1 week and I lost 11.6 pounds. I was told a little morethan half is water. I also know I wont loose that much in the coming week but I folloed it exactly and did not cheat. If this works I wont do surgery. The injections and meds kept my hunger at bay. Good luck to all!

I am still consistently loosing and my brother has started as well. He is weighing in Tuesday but has already lost 8 lbs (home scale). I am finishing my 3rd week and find that I am less hungry than the first two weeks. Some days I don't even take the app. supps. When I am hungry I grille a bunch of vegetables and find myself so full I don't desire dinner! I am down 17 as of today. This program is great. The funny thing for me now is when I wear clothing that is either getting to big or is fitting just right - and I am wondering what the heck was I thinking wearing this 17 pounds ago! YIKES.

I am not really excercising all that much either. they have told me to hold off on anything crazy for a while. I want to lost 40-45 lbs and I really feel like it's possible. It always seemed like SUCH an uphill battle before this program.

You keep up the good work too!

My biggest obstacle is sticking to the calorie requirements. I have done pretty good with staying under 1000 and am still losing 2-4 lbs a week. I needed to lose about 100 all together, so I know as I get lower in weight I won't be able to fudge as much. . . I also am not great at excercising :o) But I try not to beat my self up about it - I just keep reminding myself that I am making positive changes in my lifestyle. Keep up the great work!!!!
