I have used Mederma Advanced Scar Gel for several different wounds and have found that it makes absolutely no difference on the appearance of the scars no matter how old they are.

My mom recommended this product to me after my little dog scratched a scar on my arm that was almost the length of my arm! I was hesistant to purchase it because I am pretty cheap and I do not like to try products to see if they will work (I like to KNOW they will work if I am going to spend a decent amount on it). Since she had tried it before, I decided to give it a shot. I carried it in my purse and applied it all the time (anytime I opened my purse). I can say a year later that it is MUCH less noticeable! Application of the product is easy and it is sold in almost all pharmacies. I did notice that my skin changed to a lighter color where the cream had been applied, but it is now evening out with my overall tone.

I bought this product with hopes it would remove the c-section scar I got from having a child and so far it has proven to be very effective. It has almost blended the scar in and with a few more uses I think my scar will be gone. Not 100% gone but very light and not very visible. Great product to try.

Mederma does get rid of your scars but you have to be diligent and patient as it doesn't work overnight.  For new scars you have to put it on 3 to 4 times a day for 8 weeks and for existing scars you have to put it on 3 to 4 times a day for 3 to 6 months.  If you stick with it, though, it does work and I did see results sooner than 8 weeks.  I used it on acne scars that I had on my chin and cheek and it got rid of all the ones on my chin.  I still have to small ones on my cheek but they have faded some, so I'll just stick with it and keep applying and hopefully those will disappear soon too.  The lotion is a clear gel consistency and feels kind of slippery.  The smell is okay but not unpleasant.  Just remember a little goes a long way with this stuff, you don't need to pile it on to get results.  I thought this was strange--one of the ingredients in it is onion extract.  Not sure why it works but it does and no it doesn't have a strong odor of onions.

I was first introduced to Mederma by a dermatologist many years ago before it was over-the-counter. He gave me a sample tube after he removed a mole and a large amount of the skin around it, leaving a pretty big scar on my arm. I was immediately impressed by how good the product smells -- it's not a strong or flowery scent at all, but a light, clean scent. The gel is also very silky and non-greasy. But the most important thing about Mederma is that ***it works***. I used it according to directions, and the scar faded beautifully. It didn't completely disappear, but it ended up very soft and very faint. Two years later I had a total knee replacement. By this time, Mederma was sold over the counter, and it is fairly expensive. But I did not hesitate to buy a tube. I got so many recommendations from different people about what to use on my knee scar, but I used only the Mederma. I could not be happier with the results.

i had a small scar on my face , and went to see my doctor and he recommend i use it, since the scar was small , he said this will help it . i did , i would put it on my face twice a day once in the morning and once at night, it has no odor , but it is kind of sticky clear texture, i have notice not only the color is starting to fade , but the scar its self has fades as well , it has work so well ,that with my everyday make up , you would never guess, i have a scar in my face, wow, i has so happy with this product i recommend it it to my brother in law, he had a old scar on this eyebrow , and even he has seen a big difference, even do he has use it for a short time.i would recommend it to everyone, it does takesome time 6-8 wks to to see a difference and you have to apply everyday to see a difference too , just make it part of your routine , like washing your teeth or taking your pills.

I purchased Mederma Skin Care for Scars to use on several scars on my hands. One of these is a 20 year old scar from being burned by a hot glue gun. The other is from cutting my knuckle while doing dishes about a year ago. I used Mederma on both of these scars for 6 months, multiple times a day and although it did not completely fade the scar, they are smoother. The product worked better on the newer scar than it did for the 20 year old scar, but that was what I expected. The hot glue gun burn is no longer as raised as it used to be. It did not have any pink in it so there was no color change. The scar on my knuckle is much smoother than it was before and the color is much less pink. I am going to continue using Mederma on this scar but I do not think it will make it go away. This is a scar that I probably should have recieved stitches for and I did not. I am unsure if that is the reason for my poor results or if Mederma is just not as effective as the company says. This product is pretty expensive and when it doesn't deliever the price does not seem worth it. If you have very new scars, then I would recommend giving this product a try because it will at least minimize the scars appearance.

Mederma works really well to fade and soften scars. Though it is a little pricey, one bottle lasts a long time and can be used on a few different scars. I have used it on two scars on my neck, and they are visibly lighter. I use Mederma twice a day, even though the bottle recommends more times, but this still seems to work just fine. One thing to be careful about is to put the Mederma gel only on the scar and avoid getting it on the surrounding skin. The skin will start to peel, which draws more attention to the scar. Also, be very careful to always wear sunscreen when using Mederma. Without sunscreen, the scar will go back to a bright red color. Mederma also offers gel with SPF in it, which is nice if you will be out in the sun. If the scar is raised, Mederma might not be the best option. Something like Neosporin silicon sheets might work better. The problem I found with the silicon sheets, however, is that the sheets noticeably lighten the color of the skin around the scar. Overall, Mederma works to lessen the appearance of scars with daily use.

I had to have an emergency c-section 4 1/2 months ago, and as soon as it healed i wanted to get rid of the ugly scar. I bought this mederma scar cream because it's suposed to help make scars disappear. I rubbed it on every day for 8 weeks like it says, and I would have to say that my scar is still very visable. I am not sure if this product works or if time has just made it fade a little. I do however think that it is good that i rubbed my scar everyday because I am starting to get feeling back to the area! I am going to keep using the cream for a bit longer or until i run out to see if it gets any better, but so far i am not very impressed.

Mederma is fabulous!!  The best scar treatment!!  Had gotten a bad burn on the arm and the scar was all black/brown and bumpy and disgusting.  Then decided to do something about it.  Bought some Mederma (though it is quite expensive) and began putting it on the burn.  Though it took a while, the scar is now barely noticable and with a good tan you can't really see it at all!  Would definitely recommend Mederma to anyone struggling with scars of any kind - it really does work.  Put it on your scar and you'll start seeing the results!  I would rate it a full FIVE STAR and is really fabulous!!!  I've told a friend who is struggling with scars about it and now she bought some to put on her scars!  I think it would be great if it worked for her too.  Since scars are seriously not looking very great...it's really great to have them gone or barely noticeable!  So wonderful!  You should try it out!
