Medela Pump in Style —

I am a married, working mother of five in my mid thirties.  After five children, my primary concern with any purchase is quality and affordability.  I purchased the Medella Pump In Style after seeing it on Ebay a little over four years ago and used it for my son first, then for my daughter who will be 1 year next month. It came with a self contained carrying case, two bottles, tubes/hoses, storage containers, instruction manual, suction cups and spare parts like seals. The pump had an adjustable suction knob all moving parts enclosed for safety. It was used almost every day after my three month maternity leave when I returned back to work, once in the morning and twice in the afternoon. I liked how easy and quick it was to use. It only took me less than 15 minutes to pump and clean everything.  Just like clockwork, it became second nature. After 5 kids my number one priority is quality and durability and this pump proved the test of time.  If you lost any parts you could purchase them relatively inexpensively. The pump is nicely packaged in a black carrying bag which has plenty of space for milk storage bags, bottles and the necessary parts to pump along with extra parts for the pump. My favorite part of the bag is the insulated section to transport milk. If I could change anything it would be more like inventing a new part for it.  I would like it to be hands free.  Of course, that option is not available with breast pumps right now but maybe in the future. A few co-workers didn't even know I was pumping. One person would always think I was taking work home and another actually thought it was a laptop, funny!  Although, I only used it for my last two children I wished I had purchased it for all of them as the pump would have saved me the heart ache of using the battery operated ones.  The battery operated one used many batteries, took much longer to use and made a lot of noise. One of my co-workers actually thought I had asthma. My first pump was actually a manual one, the only thing I liked about that was the exercise I got out of it. I didn't pump for very long because it was time consuming and hard to use. I just gave my pump to my sister who has already gotten good use out of it. She purchased a new pumping kit for it because she didn't want any of my cooties.  That's another plus if you decide to resale it to another mom or pass it on you can replace the parts that made contact with the body.
