When it comes to white envelopes, there is really only one brand that I stick with for my personal use. Whether it is a letter size, or the smaller sized ones, I turn to Mead for my home use. I have uses for both sizes, but I have been using my 3 5/8 inches by 6 1/2 inch envelopes most often lately. The main reason for that being that they fit nicely into the niche I have created for myself, and they fulfill the needs that I require of them.

The Mead envelopes are developed for all purpose use in the home and office. They come in either 100 packs or 250 count packs, depending on just how many of the envelopes you think you are going to need. Currently I have been going with the 100 count box, because I don't use quite as many envelopes as some other people might. These are easy to pick up, and most office supply stores sell them a lot cheaper than some other brands. This box was picked up for under $2.00 for the 100 count box, costing me less than 2 cents per envelope.

The envelopes are a nice white color, with the measurements being 3 5/8 inches in height, and 6 1/2 inches long. The fold over triangle has glue that must be wetted before closing up the envelope. The glue isn't the best tasting, but if you wet the tip of your finger and run it along the length of the glue, it will stick just as well. That might actually be what I recommend if you use these envelopes often, because the taste really isn't great. Be careful not to use too much water though, because it will soak through the envelope and could make it unusable.

The envelopes are thin in appearance, and some could see that as a negative, because it means you can see (roughly) what is inside of the envelope when you hold it up to the light. Using a piece of scrap paper around anything important can solve that issue, or if you are sending a note to someone simply folding it over will additionally fix this minor problem. The front of the envelope is a solid white, with no window, as I prefer to address them myself when I am mailing them. They are easier to write on before you put anything inside, so that is also what I tend to do.

My primary use of these envelopes, is to send in payments for bills and such. They are the perfect length for cash as well as checks, so when you write one, you can just slip it cleanly into the envelope. I use one of these every month when I pay the rent for my apartment, and by folding over the check within a piece of scrap paper it is nicely protected. It is also perfect for any other payments that I don't do online, as you can fill out a check easily and just toss the envelope into the mail. They hold up well, a strongly built, and don't come apart with much wear and tear. I know this, because I will often put them in my coat pocket or wallet, and they don't degrade.

The Mead Envelopes are a nice purchase if you are looking for a dependable and multi-use envelope in your home or office use. I only use these at home, and have never had a problem with them. Being able to purchase them in 100 or 250 packs means you will have them around for a while, and the box that they come in is easy to close when not in use. Depending on how fast you use envelopes, these ones could last your house a long time, and the glue doesn't break down if you use them within a few years. I highly recommend the Mead 3 5/8 x 6 1/2 inch envelopes for any use you might find from them.

Mead products have been in my life since, oh, when they came up with the organizer back in the '70s. I use these envelopes, too, Great write-up!
