I have never been a fast food person. Shoot, I don't even care for food, period. But one of my best friend has two daughters at home and the youngest, Lizzie, loves McDonald's. So when I am with them we usually end up at a McDonald's after church or on the way to a ballgame. I wasn't sure what I would want to eat at McDonald's so I got some chicken nuggets and a "Mickey D's sweet tea." I was hooked!
This is some awesome tea! They fresh brew it on a regular basis and let the tea sit a while before they add the sugar, or so I have been told by a manager at one location. This seems to be a pretty good method considering that's how I used to make sweet tea before I was introduced to Publix Sweet Tea sold by the gallon. Okay, on a rabbit trail...anyway, sometimes my coworkers and I will do breakfast runs. We take orders and go somewhere to pick up biscuits. I usually go to McD's or the Kmart Deli. Well, on several occasions I have gotten bad tea at McD's. When I go back to get another cup we find out one of two reasons why my tea was bad:
I learned how to combat these two problems. First of all, I don't go thru drive-thru. I go inside and when I order tea I taste it before I leave. I also tell them to give me tea from the urn in the drive-thru. Why? Because the drive-thru stays open late and opens earlier than the dining room so their tea is made more often.
The problem with finding good sweet tea is that my best friend's daughters also like it so they will usually drink most of mine. In my area McD's sells the large for a dollar. If you buy a combo you can upgrade your drink to a large sweet tea and my local McD's doesn't charge you extra for it.
They also sell it by the gallon but I have been told not to buy it because it goes back really quick. I can usually get a large sweet tea, drink from it during the day and take it home and bring the rest of it back to work the next day. Anything longer than that and it will be rank.
I'm a southern girl and a connoisseur of the finer things in life! This sweet tea is awesome! Most of my family thinks it is too sweet but I just shrug my shoulders and think, "What do they know. This is some good stuff!"
My name is Gigi and I approve this message :+)
