I have to admit when I heard the hype about McDonalds taking on the big coffee franchises with their cafe-style coffees I was not prepared to change my morning jolt of java to try the new caffeine kid on the block.  But I thought, "Let me try one . . . just once.  How bad can they be."

It was an usually hot Western North Carolina morning so on my way to work I stopped at McDonald and ordered their McCafe Iced Mocha Coffee.  Topped with whipped cream and a ribbon of dark chocolate, I was already impressed.  I immediately noticed the aroma.  Ah, dark roast, rich dark espresso blend.  I put it in my cup holder and drove off.  Half way to down the road I decided, okay let's try this coffee.  I gave the ice a quick stir with my straw and took a sip.  WOW, this ain't bad. I drank the entire medium sized container in just a few gulps.  It was refreshingly good and to my surprise the whipped cream was not that sweet.  A great combination of flavors McCafe Iced Mocha Coffee!

And the bonus, McCafe Iced Mocha Coffee is two to three dollars cheaper than the big franchise iced coffees.  I'm hooked on McCafe Iced Mocha Coffee.  In my iced caffeinated opinion, McCafe Iced Mocha Coffee is giving the big coffee franchises a run for their McMoney!  Good job MackieD!

Noteworthy:  I buy two; the first one is gone in a matter of two to three minutes, the second one . . . I savor!

It may be a regional thing but in WNC Starbuck's and Panera Bread Iced Caffe Mochas are between $4 and $5, and at our McDonalds they're only $2.99 for the same size. I'm stickin' with MackieD's!

Hmmm. I did not have the same experience, and I also thought the prices were only about 50 cents less than my local Caribou or Starbucks.

My thoughts exactly AnnaB, however, I was pleasantly surprised! it's got just the right amount of espresso flavor to hold it's own and compete with S'Bucks. Not bad for a fast food joint!

This was really interesting! I had thought that these would be just plain sweet and not enough of a coffee taste. I might sample this.
