Not a fan!

I am a huge fan of baking homemade goods, especially pies. When I saw the McCormick Apple Pie Spice, I figured I would give it a try. Instead of adding all the spices individually, you just add one scoop of this! It is very convenient, but I feel the cloves in it are way too intense. The flavor stands out more than any of the other spices in it. I feel the mix needs more cinnamon, and less cloves and nutmeg! I like the idea, but the mix of the spices just wasn't good old fashioned apple pie.

Apple pies that taste like my mother baked them

5

I have just recently taken up baking.  I started with banana bread and zucchini bread, then decided to take a stab at baking a pie.  My mother made the best apple pie, of course whose mother didn't?  But I really wanted a pie that tasted like hers.  She has already passed away, so I couldn't get the recipe from her.  I came across a recipe for apple pie that was so easy, and since this was my first try at pies, I decided to give it a go.  The only ingredients were two pre-made pie crusts, apples, sugar, flour, butter, and McCormick Apple Pie Spice. After mixing the sugar, flour, and spice in a freezer sized storage bag, I added the thinly sliced apples and tossed in the bag to cover the fruit.  Then emptied them into one of the pie crusts, dotted the apples with butter, used the other crust for the top, and popped it into the oven.  To my amazement, this pie tasted just like my mother's recipe.  The McCormick Apple Spice is the perfect blend of the various spices called for in most recipes.  Peeling, coring, and cutting the apples took the most time. Since I had such success with the pie, I've also used it in an apple bread recipe.  This is a definite must have spice for baking.
