Mazzarella Media Potty Power DVD —

My son is an only child and just turned 2 in July. There looks to be a long road ahead of us, the way things are going, and since we're going the patient, encouraging route, I'll try anything that might help!

My son was afraid of his potty chair and refused to have anything to do with it when we decided to buy the video. He wanted to watch the video over and over when we first got it, and after the first day, we crossed our fingers and brought out potty chair out again. I almost didn't have time to get it onto the floor before my son had backed himself up and was trying to plop down onto it. WOW! He has also showed a lot more interest in washing his hands.

Unfortunately, that's as far as it's gone so far. He still likes the video, though it's not the constant begging it was at first, and I'm hopeful that eventually he'll sit on the potty long enough to actually DO something.

Wish me luck!

Sept 7th EDIT TO ADD: This weekend, my son was playing quietly and suddenly approached me and took me by the hand, said, "I have to go," and led me to the bathroom, where he took off his diaper, sat on his potty chair, and then washed his hands afterward! (OK, so he didn't actually DO anything in the potty, but what a big step!) The "I have to go" is a direct quote from the DVD, so I'm crediting this exciting mommy moment to the video and upping my rating by a star. :D

Wishing you luck!! :) I know the feeling. My son was just over 3 before we could get him to go on the potty. Here's what worked for us. Keep him naked. Let him pee on himself or a good week. Every time he does, say it is pee-pee. He finally made the connection! Oh, and we told our son that TV is only for big boys. And, if he went pee-pee on the potty, he could watch TV for 20 minutes a day. If he didnt go on the potty- no TV. I think the bribery is what won in the end. Terrible, but true.
