I never should have traded in my Lexus IS300 for this vehicle. While it looks fast, it is a snail at only 197 horsepower. I was pulled over once in 2 years in my Lexus and have already been pulled over 4 times in 3 years in this car and I was only speeding one of those times. It is a head turner, but I notice it's only the police and elderly men who seem to pay attention. This car only gets 12-14 mpg and the tank only holds 13 gallons. This means I cannot travel more than approx. 225 miles per tank, which is a real inconvenience. The fully loaded model offers lots of conveniences (in-dash 6 CD changer and navigation system as well as heated seats), but you will pay dearly for them. There are many other cars out there for $35k that are a much better value, look better and outperform the RX-8. Not at all a good value for the money. I've regretted this purchase since the day after I made it, but I'll be stuck with it for another 3 years. Don't make the same mistake I did, pass on this car.

We have a 2006 RX8 and we think it is great!! Our RX8 is loaded with just about everything you want n a car. Gas mileage in town is around 15 to 16 and on the road about 24. The only things I would change would be turbo for fun and no back seat for more storage.

First off Cowen is an idiot, with that said going from an IS 300 to RX8 is a big difference.
- Speed limited in RX8 is over a 140mph in th six speed package
- the gas tank holds 15.2 gallons
- it does 16-18 mpg on street 17-20 of frwy
- the car is only 27,000 dollars before tax
- in holds 4 comfortably
- It turns coners at well over 85mph and holds its own no problem
- Its a rotary get over yourself and deal with it, oil and fuel are a must
- Once turbo and tuned you'll have a 300-400 hp
rear wheel monster
- easy daily driver very comfortable
- insurance is low "4doors"
- and sounds great
Now every car has issues the 8 is no exception most issues can be prevented with proper maintenance and power upgrades granted they're not cheap. You want cheap and easy get a Honda you want powerful get a Mitsubishi Evolution you want sleek, responsive, and sporty you get an 8.
