My husband and I purchased the Maytag Quiet Series 300 in 2003. I was replacing a 1980's Magic Chef unit that came with our house. That old Magic Chef was so powerful that it blew the etching off some of my glassware.
Within the first 2 years we had this unit, the soap dispenser door broke, the control panel was replaced and the door handle broke twice. Just recently, even after we were told the door handle was "improved" with metal reinforcements, it has broken again and so has the soap dispenser door.
I love the delay start this unit offers. It is convienient that we can run it at night when we are asleep. However, I do not feel that this unit cleans the dishes as well as I expected. It seems to not be able to remove small pieces of lettuce that may stick on a salad bowl or even a piece of shredded cheese. It just seems to melt the cheese to the container and dries the lettuce to the bowl.
Sometimes, it makes me feel like I should have kept that old Magic Chef. I don't expect it to last forever, but for $650.00, I expect to not have to repair the same things over and over again.
