Most HelpfulThis washer is so easy to use and handles very large loads well. The clothes are spotless and being that it doesn't have an agitator, the clothes are less wrinkled and it doesn't damage delicate items. It has several settings, from hand wash to extra large loads. The Neptune washer is an energy star...

Most HelpfulMaytag Neptune Front Loader-non-electronic control
If this machine ever dies, I will go through the five stages of grief. I purchased my machine in 2000 and use it every day. I love it because it saves so much water and detergent, henceforth so much of my green. I love it because it is smart and knows if the load is big or little. I love how it wrings every drop of water out of my clothes, towels and blankets so that they dry almost instantly on the line. I love that it is gentle, never tearing up a bra or slip. I love to stuff it totally full of clothes, because I CAN, and yes, they WILL be...
read full review »I recently bought a new house and with it came the inheritance of a Maytag Neptune washer and dryer from Lowes. To me the washer feels new as it is only about two or three years old and is still under warranty. It's my first front loading washer and I really like it! Once you start the wash cycle the door locks, so you don't accidently open it while its' washing and make a mess. It's also easily unlockable in case you forgot to add an item to the wash.
The Neptune washer is easy to use and an energy saving machine. There are many special settings, like presoak, extra rinse, maximum extract,...
read full review »The Maytag Neptune washers are very unreliable. I have had one and will never own a front loading washer ever again.
The 2 most common problems are the rubber ring and the water that sits in that ring-and the mold that comes along with it and the computer board.
No matter what you use to "clean" the inside of the washer, it always has a moldy, old water smell. As for quiet, I don't really notice a difference. And I think any washer can get "uneven"-even front loaders.
I think alot of people will be wanting to trade their front load washers in after a couple of years. It seems like these...
read full review »I purchased the Maytag Neptune front loading washing machine after having a top loader for years that I had a good experience with so I thought I'd buy another Maytag. Big mistake! It washes clothes fine but boy does it stink! The rubber gasket is black with mold that will not come off. I run a load with bleach about once a week washing old rags, tried cleaning the gasket and nothing works. I was not notified of the class action lawsuit until I started doing some research on this and found out accidentily and unfortunately too late. I refuse to pay a repairman plus I've heard it just...
read full review »After years of living in the laundromat, I treated myself to this set of appliances, and it's one of the best decisions I've ever made. Energy efficient, super quiet, they get clothes cleaner than a top loader, and the dryer is super...my jeans are dry before the next load is ready to come out of the washer. I've had this pair for seven years, and have had a service man out once...to fix a door that came out of alignment because my son used the machine as a step ladder. I expect they will last for years to come, my family had a Maytag washer and dryer when I was a teenager that's still going...
read full review »The Maytag Neptune washer cleans well and lives up to its reputation for low water and detergent usage. However, I find clothes left in after the washing is completed for even short time ( several hours or overnight) come out with a musty smell. I have left clothes in from the previous evening and went to remove them the next evening (24 hours) and found the smell so strong I needed to rewash. As I work full time and usually like to wash only after 8 pm (lower hydro rates) I find this wasteful to have to wash clothes twice.
I bought this and the dryer and love them both. I bought floor models and purchased the extended warranty, which I've never had to use. I like the simplicity of the features, its very easy to learn how to use. I'm really happy with my purchase and haven't experienced any of the problems metioned by other reviewers. I find it to be very energy efficient and haven't noticed any major increases in my power or water consumption when I have a lot of laundry to do (Which happens when you have a baby!)
My husband purchased a Maytag Neptune Washer as a gift. At first I was happy but once I started using it I had problems. I had to contact repair for it over 5 times within the first 6 months. I felt that Sears owed me a new washer but according to them it didn't break enough times in the time frame that would suggest that it could be replaced.
I love this washer, it has a large load capacity and washes the clothes better than any top loader I ever had. I really like the fact that it has an extra extraction on it so that once the clothes spin, they are almost dry. This saves energy in my dryer. In my old top loader, clothes were being shredded. This is no longer the case. I believe it also helps the wrinkle factor in that the clothes do not spend that much time in the dryer. I did have the pump wear out on it after about 3 years. However using a repair site on line, I was able to troubleshoot the problem, order the repair...
read full review »Since purchasing the Maytag washer my utility bills have decreased also the amount of time it takes to do the laundry has decreased. I use less water and can do larger loads of laundry. With five kids at home and a husband I use to have to start laundry the night before and do laundry all day and night. With the Maytag Neptune washer I start doing laundry in morning and I am usually finished by the time the kids get home from school. I do not have worry about the fabric softener or bleach. I just put everything in the dispenser and it dispenses when it time for it. The dispenser tray comes out...
