This Maytag Neptue front loading washer is a "high efficiency" machine which means that it uses less water and energy than most top loading machines. We purchased ours a few years ago at Abt Electronics in Chicago.  The washer and dryer are stackable which is a good thing because our laundry closet...

I have purchased two front loader washing machines over the past 6 years. The first one I purchased, in 2001, began to smell like mildew after about 6 months. (this was the the Neptune machine.) I called Magtag numerous times, because the smell was so bad, it was making me ill. (I was pregnant at the...

This washer will do what it is meant to.  Wash clothes, save water & detergent.  And that's fine.  But the design problem that leaves water in the drum and along the door gasket to produce mold is bad enough to negate any positives.  And this model was suppose to have resolved those issues.

will be brief had a Maytag Neptune front load, a previous model, the one with the class action law suit that Maytag thumbed it's nose at everyone on. However in dealing with all the woes of that machine I worked a swap plus some boot with a local dealer for MAH8700A. Had to do something, get something out of the other junker.

Let me start with the pros, that will not take long. Nice dispenser design, fit and finish is good. Controls are easy to reach. The cycle selections are good, and I like the pause option, that can double as a soak. The was quality is excellent (for awhile). Washer is quite...

My husband is a nice guy.  He works hard and likes to spend his money getting nice things for our beautiful home.  Since our son not only plays baseball but catches, laundry is a big deal.  Those knees!  So he spends top dollar on the Neptune.

It leaks.  It has had multiple fixes because it vibrates so much, it broke its' own door.  It has torn the linoleum flooring in my laundry room because it jumps so much. It's supposed to be large load but even using it at half its' touted capacity, it goes nuts.  We've called Maytag multiple times hoping for a solution so we don't feel ripped off. ...

Ok I had always wanted a front loader washing machine. When my 4 year old Kenmore died I said well now I will get a new front loading washer and dryer ! I got rid of my old ones and in came my new Maytag! Boy was I thrilled. For 4 long years I dealt with a washer that had troubles from the start and I was so happy to get a new chance at washing HEAVEN.

Well I had my maytag washer and dryer 2 weeks. I went to load a pretty little fleece throw in and wash it. My washer did not work. It never went to spin cycle. It left my throw drenched. I had to have the repair man come out to fix my 2 week old...

This washer was here in the house when I moved in. I had heard great things about it and was excited. I have 4 children and many pets. I am doing laundry all the time. I constantly have to re-wash entire loads because they don't get clean. I have changed the size of the loads, the laundry detergent tried everything, but I am still having the same problem. I have always had top loader other brand named washers, and never had a problem like this. A huge disappointment.

Nice design and quite. it takes a lot of space but is water efficient. cleans well, especially whites. Uses little soap. It is good to get extended warranty as this new technology can break down due to the high cost of electronics. This washer like many of it competitors take lots of space. Not good in a small apartment. They also must be planned on a solid foundation as they vibrated if not. Also the water pipes must be tightly fitted along the walls as they can vibrate when the machine starts. When it starts the water starts and stop often in the pre soak and this causes the pipes to vibrate...

Have had my Neptune for 4 years.  It saves me about $10 a month on our water bill.   But even after I do what the manufacturer says, there is still MILDEW on the rubber seal around the tub.  I DON'T like the mildew. A serviceman comes every year, as I pay to keep extending the warranty, and they either cannot or will not get the mildew out, either.  I have not recommended the machine to any of my friends.  After owning the machine for 2 years, I was glad I had bought the warranty, because the 'computer' in the wash selection knob went bad.  I was told it would have cost me $300 to replace... review »

Once you have learned the controls the washing is done in a most efficient manner.  The water saving feature is my favorite.  My water bill is less and I feel like my clothes get cleaner because of the ability the washer has even tho it uses less water.  Some of the units come with a storage drawer in the bottom which helps to keep the soaps and fabric softeners orderly.  I love the fact that you can see your washing and know its not stuck in one corner like happens in top load systems. The clothes seem to have more room to move due to the front load and they get cleaner. Also its nice to be... review »

We regretfully purchased the 9700 set (washer/dryer) because it was a good price compared to other models.  It worked perfect the first 6 months, however now it dances around the room, shakes violently( i'm talking regular loads, not say 1 pillow), doesn't drain properly every time.  I can honestly say I hate it.  We are fortunate that we did buy the 5 year warranty, but i am really hoping for the unti to blow up or burn, whether covered or not by warranty. That way we can go buy a good machine and put this one where it belongs...in a scrap metal recycling plant.

Great machine, reliable, easy on clothing.  Clothes are nearly dry when you pull them out.  GOtta love that!  Down side is that on the higher spin cycle ratings, the machine shakes the house -- but to get clothes nearly dry you do not need this cycle at all.  Machine is expensive as an initial investment but pays off because of the reduced wear and tear on clothes, the reduced detergent requirements (I use a quarter of the recommended detergent and clothes cme out clean), reduced water and power use and reduced drying time.  Highly recommended.

I am the owner of a Maytag Neptune Front Loader Washer.  I have owned it for about 2 years and am very happy with its performance.  It uses very little water and cleans very well.  The spin cycle spins most of the water out and helps clothes to dry faster.  I have the matching dryer and pedestals.  I really appreciate that I don't have to handwash anything.  There are a variety of cycles and settings to accommodate delicates and hand washable items.  It has served me well.I have no complaints with this machine.

I Love my Maytag Neptune! It is the best investment we bought for our household! It doesn't use that much water like the top loads do. You can get a larger load of clothes in if you need to. It washes great! I can do my comforters and blankets at home instead of going to the laundry mat to do them! Big plus in my house I don't have time to go sit around at a laundry mat all day to wash and dry my comforters and blankets! They fit right into he washer and dryer!
