Maytag Dishwasher - Quiet Series 200 Review Summary

No one likes to do household chores, and now with the Maytag Quiet Series, doing your dishes is so quiet and easy you won’t even mind. Reviewers love the power behind this dishwasher and give it high ratings for having plenty of storage, several settings and being very quiet. JJfoxy says, "this is the best layout I've encountered so far." While Maytag is usually a top name in kitchen appliances, not all reviewers were satisfied with the Quiet Series 200. Some have found the Maytag dishwasher breaks after limited use and takes too long to finish loads, sometimes two hours or more. In addition, some consumers gave the Quiet Series Dishwasher a low rating for poor customer service. Applianceguy says, "Maytag hasn't fixed it either time that they came out." Seems like Viewpoints reviewers either love it or hate it. Want to keep comparing? Click here for more dishwasher reviews.

I love my dishwasher. I've used other dishwashers in the past and this is the best layout I've encountered so far. I can pack so much in there and it always comes out clean. I can fill it with dirty, food crusted, unrinsed dishes and leave them for 3-4 days and they always come out spotless!!!! The only... review »

My parents own this diswasher (Maytag Quiet Series 200) but I'm very familar with it, having loaded/emptied dishes and also unfortunately had to repair it frequently when it gave them problems.

Starting out on a positive note, the dishwasher has some nice features, like the all nylon rack (keeps you...

What I liked about this machine was the deep bottom level.  It is easy to fit larger pans on the one side.  It was touted as being an Energy Star model.

What I didn't like was that it takes a long time to cycle through and clean the load.  Maybe not so efficient and energy conscious.  For a quiet series, it was loud.  Worst of all, after the initial warranty was up, the door handle broke.  I had it repaired and a few years later it has broke again.  It has two small plastic parts holding it together inside.  The repair man told me he has repaired a lot of them.  They are now replacing...

Prior to purchasing this dishwasher, when I heard the name "Maytag" I automatically thought quality, durability, worth the money.  After shelling out top dollar for one I found myself very disappointed.  This dishwasher is less than 2 years old and the door doesn't close correctly, it is growing mold inside, not to mention it probably takes about 2 hours to wash and rinse 1 load of dishes.  Probably wasting water that we can't afford to lose in this drought that we are in.  Don't buy one of these!

I am seriously disappointed with my Maytag Quiet Series dishwasher. I have only had it about 2 years and I have had to get it fixed several times, which is really disappointing since my old dishwasher lasted 10 years without any trouble. To put it in short terms: it is very good at cleaning my dishes, and mildewing my floor, and my carpet, and my cabinets (it leaks badly). The heated dry function does not work on my dishwasher because the heating element is broken (Maytag hasn't fixed it either time that they came out). The motor for the dishwasher makes strange noises and doesn't pump the water... review »

We bought the Maytag Quiet Series 200 4 years ago when we built our house.  I really wish I would have researched the model first.  it is awful!!  My dishes look worse than when they were put in.  And it is NOT QUIET EITHER!!!!  I will never buy another Maytag again!

Four years ago we bought a Maytag Quiet Series 200 for more than $500.00. At that time, we tought it was one of the most advanced, effective, reliable, long-lasting, and efficient dishwashers on the market. We even recommended it to a neighbour who acquired one immediately upon our recommendations. However, it didn't take long for the dishwasher to start disappointing us.

First, it was unable to cleanly wash dishes without manual precleaning.

Second, the door release machanism easily breaks as it is made out of brittle plastic material.

Third, the major components are held together by plastic and...

Ours broke after only three months. It was fixed under warranty. But then more problems started: The handle is cheap plastic and broke several times. Now it leaks water and doesn't wash the dishes. It probably doesn't pay to get this piece of junk fixed again. Time for a new brand.

Unfortunately, I would have to give this model a "Thumbs-Down".  Although economically priced, this dishwasher is noisy, and the washing cycles are long.  Dishes do not get cleaned as well as you would expect, and dirty residue remains in the bottom of the tub.  The dishwasher detergent dispenser door never closed with powdered detergent since day 1.  After only 2 yrs of use, many of the rack uprights have rusted and broken off.

DO NOT BUMP AGAINST THE DOOR TO CLOSE.  If you have kids in the house, do NOT buy this model.  The PLASTIC door latch broke and needed replacement ($85 + Labor). ...

We bought the Maytag 200 series about 3 yrs ago.  Our neighbor gave us a saying for Maytag- MAYbe it will and MAYbe it won't.  I can truly say- we had a won't.  Within a year we had to replace the door latch and now a year and a half later, we have to replace the control panel...an issue I have read that many have.  It has never been what I consider quiet nor has it been very good, for at least a year, about cleaning the dishes.  I want to ask it, "What have you been doing for the past 2hrs?"  Instead of replacing the control panel, we are looking into a different machine altogether.

I've had nothing but problems with Maytag with regards to timely repairs of their units.  My first dishwasher had a hole in the tub and the whole unit had to be replaced.  This process took 6 weeks of back and forth between Maytag and their service subcontractors.  Maytag kept saying that the service tech didn't complete the paperwork correctly and the service company (which Maytag said I had to use) kept saying that  everything was in order.  Finally, after 7 weeks, I got my new unit installed.  Nine month later, this unit developed a leak around the door which the service tech (same...

This machine is the worst piece of junk I have ever seen, control panel went out and the technican said it was installed improperly and got water on it, I reminded him he put it in and then he looked into it further, it was replaced, then the handle went out and won't latch but it still washed so  I continued, now it won't wash, just mists, either the pump is out or and impeller broke, either way i'm getting a new one, Kenmore this time and may the dishwasher gods smile on me as I can't afford another fiasco like this one. Oh, and my neighbor bought a quiet series 200 the same time as mine, it... review »

My wife and I thought we were getting a trust worthy product when we bought a Maytag product and almost thought getting the extended warranty would be a waste.  Well it turns out the best decision we made was to get the 5 year warranty.  We had it repaired almost annually.  From a leaking seal to the door handle constantly breaking (made of plastic), it was a nightmare.  We found it to be extremely unacceptable for normal usage.  Maybe its meant to be used once a week.

Bought  a Maytag model number MDB6601AwB just under 2 years ago.  So far i have had to replace the latch and the control board.   Once  again the control board is gone after only 3 months.  Yes it is a quiet dishwasher and cleans well when it works.
Repair is expensive and would not recomment  it to anyone.
